Overview
State licensed and State Inspected we are located in the center of Hallam. Sitting atop a hill the large Victorian House is surrounded by massive gardens and large old trees. The home was built in 1869 and is constructed of logs, The interior and exterior are decorated in true Victorian Fashion. We serve a full High Tea Wednesday through Saturday and accommodates from 2 to 40. Our gardens have accommodated as many as 178 for special events. We have served people from all 50 states and 39 countries. We truly look forward to serving you.

Food: This was my first high tea experience and The Front Porch delivered a memorable one. The berry iced tea was excellent,as was everything served that day. The Italian vegetable soup, fresh tea sandwiches(I was partial to the chicken salad),warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam were all wonderful and the desserts were decadent. The surroundings were both beautiful and serene. We were not hurried, the service was great, and we were certainly not hungry when we left. I would highly recommend The Front Porch and hope to visit again. |

Food: Since I had been to The Front Porch before, I chose this spot to celebrate the 60th birthday of a dear friend with a very special group of friends. We have been to many tearooms as a group, but this one is now at the top of everyone's list! For me, the beverage is secondary to the food in a properly prepared afternoon tea, and The Front Porch delights me every time! My group was absolutely delighted with the tea, the food, the atmosphere, Bonnie's hospitality, the gardens -- a perfect celebration! We will all be back! |

Linda,Thank you so much for your comments. The size of my sandwich has not changed. I have noticed that the dimensions of the loaf of bread has changed not in number of slices but overall size. We still give everyone the equivalent of one full sandwich. Regarding the size of our scones, we still get 20 scones out of every batch and give each persons 2 different scones. Maybe you have been used to one large scone served elsewhere versus two scones at the Front Porch. I generally hear from my customers that they are too full to even finish their dessert, and most take it home. I do hope that you will try us again and we will do our best to do a good job. Food: This was my fourth visit to The Front Porch Tea Room and it was as wonderful as the first time I visited. The tearoom is quaint, the food and tea is delicious, and the service is both prompt and friendly. Bonnie, the owner, always takes a few minutes away from the kitchen to visit with her guests. I think this is a nice personal touch. We finished our visit by browsing through the gardens and taking pictures with friends. Overall, the visit was absolutely wonderful! I can't wait to go back. |

Food: We had a very pleasant time at this tea room. Choosing a hat to wear made the experience memorable. The food was good. The ice tea was delicious but additional choices of hot tea beyond what was already on the table under the tea cozy was served in tea bags with a teapot of warmish water. |

Margaret,I am so sorry that you had a bad experience with us. We have over 70 loose and bagged tea varieties in our kitchen. Normally we brew whatever tea you request and then take it to the table. I do not know what happened with the water either since we keep a pot of 212 hot water on at all times just so we can brew tea for our customers. Food: The teas, food, service were excellent. The victorian decorations, music, gift shop and garden all added to a charming way to spend the afternoon. High tea served with 6 courses was absolutely delicious. Other tea houses I've been to I felt like I needed to go eat afterwards...not true here. What a great, relaxing wonderful afternoon. The owner is a caring creative woman who makes you feel right at home. You start off selecting a hat from her large selection which also adds charm to the High tea. Great afternoon. |

Food: Nine of us traveled approximately 80 miles to sample the fare at the Front Porch Tearoom. It was well worth the trip. What a delightful afternoon we had. Food: I've been to many tea rooms in the York,PA area, where I live. This is the only one I keep coming back to time and time again. Most recently I was there with my daughter for the Mother's Day High Tea. As usual, it was wonderful, with choices of cold and hot teas, ambrosia, salad,finger sandwiches, soup,and dessert. The food is substantial, satisfying and delicious. The Victorian atmosphere is very clean,beautiful and relaxing. The outside gardens are beautiful and I love browsing around upstairs at the gift shop items. If you want to step back in time to a slower more relaxing atmosphere, with great, unhurried service, this is the place to go. I will undoubtedly return again. |

Food: I visited the Front Porch Tea Room with my daughter, daughter-in-law, two granddaughters and several friends. This was the first time for most of us. We had a great time and really enjoyed the food. The Chocolate Coconut Tea was very good as was the Cherry Blossom Black Tea. Ambrosia was perfect with the toasted coconut and the salad with House dressing was great. I liked the Chilled Strawberries and Cream soup and the ladies who chose Chicken Corn said it was delicious. Sandwiches were very good. I particularly liked the Cucumber with Cream Cheese and lemon pepper on Rye. Chocolate cake was great and the Lemon Mousse was very good. We will definitly be back. This was the Mother's Day Tea, but I'm sure the other menus are just as good. |

Food: Six of us red hatter's went to tea 4-17-08. What a great time we had. The food was soooooooo good. We were offered our chose between two soups, most of use picked the cream of mushroom. It was excelent. The rest of the tea was just as excelent. We all left very full. The tea room is an old victorian that has been decorated very nice with hats and clothing of that time. You can pick out a hat to wear if you want. The gift shop upstairs is not to be missed. |

Food: I attended a high tea with a group of friends and we had a delightful time. The vanilla cinnamon tea was wonderful as well as the spring time tea. A lovely Roobios blend. The fruit ambrosia was lilght and fresh, the salad was a lovely mixture of greens, mandarin oranges with pine nuts and dried fruits. The savory rosemary and thyme scones and the fruity apricot scones were wonderful with the clotted cream and the strawberry spread. The dainty little sandwiches were quite good as well. Not one of us tasted anything we didn't like and we really enjoyed picking out a hat from the collection on the wall. The garden outside was beautiful and peaceful. Bonnie is such a treat, extremely nice and fun! I highly recommend this tea room to everyone. You will not be disappointed! |

Food: I attended a breakfast tea. We were served 2 types of tea, my favorite being the vanilla cinnamon. We were served 2 beautiful plates of muffins,scones etc. We had a delicious fruit salad and hot food as well. The atmosphere was Victorian with trees beautifully decorated with teacups and teapots and a gift shop upstairs. There is lots to look at! The outside landscaping was absolutely beautiful. It was a wonderful,relaxing and fun experience. |

Food: A Valentine's Evening to remember and Bonnie and the staff of the Front Porch Tea Room made it a night of magic for true love. My wife has been to this tea room many times and I've been to Bonnie's incredible Breakfast so why not try one of her event dinners. It was the perfect evening of a quiet get away for just the two of us(even though the place was packed it still felt like we were the only ones). The gourmet meal surpassed the 5 star expensive alternatives in York and of course Bonnie and her staff catered to our every whim. Not one detail was overlooked and again our expectations were exceeded. It is any wonder why The Front Porch Tea Room is number 4 in the state? - In my book they are number ONE. |

Food: I work in a retirement community, as a Recreation Coordinator so I have been to several local tea rooms, but never to The Front Porch.I went with my girlfriends for our monthly girls day out.The best way to describe my experience is 'WOW'. It was very cozy compared to the other Tea rooms I have visited. Bonnie was such a wonderful host. She reminded us several times to not rush. The food was excellent especially the poppy dressing, and the potato soup.Personally I do not drink alot of tea, but all 3 varieties that we tried were delicious. Another bonus I enjoyed was the 'Sugar Cubes'. I haven't seen them in years. I am so excited to return to The Front Porch, in the spring. I love tulips, and Bonnie told us there are hundreds in bloom. Thank you Bonnie for a wonderful experience! |

Food: The Front Porch was my FIRST experience at a tea room and I loved it. I went with my friends for a Girls Day out and it was soo perfect for the occasion. Great food, yummy tea, and Wonderful Hospitality. I've actually convinced my Fiance to go there for Valentine's Day. Food: Today was my first 'High Tea' and it was wonderful. We had two teas during the course of the meal. The food was very good. My favorites were the salad with homemade poppy seed dressing and loaded baked potato soup. The baked potato soup is the best that I have had. Food: Bonnie does a super job making you feel so welcome. I have visited the Front Porch Tea Room 3 times now, and it only gets better! This last time I visited with my mother and we had a wonderful High Tea. I would recommend this to all. My mom was a bit leary when I gave her a gift certificate to this establishment, thinking it would be high society, but her tune completely changed while we were there and she has been telling everyone about our tea. We are going to be bringing more of our family members to visit. Thank you! |

Food: This is by far one of the best tea rooms! Serving teas brewed to perfection in a beautifully decorated home/victorian gift shop. If you like what you see you can purchase it and take it along...right off the wall! In warmer months, enjoy your tea in the elaborate gardens. You'll forget you are still in PA as you lose yourself in the atmosphere. Bonnie serves the absolute best high tea that I have experienced in my seven years of 'tea-partying.' With a full six courses of fabulous, savory soups, scones, and sandwiches there is no way you will leave hungry. I look forward to the raspberry poppy seed dressing every time. Each month features two teas ranging from herbals, Davidson's dessert, black, red, and holiday blends. Since visiting The Front Porch, my friend and I find that other tea rooms simply do not measure up! The Front Porch is the Cadillac of tea rooms. |

Food: This was our second time to the tea room. This time for my daughter's 7th birthday with her grandmothers. We felt very welcomed and the service was very flexible. My daughter asked for a different tea and she was given one in her own teapot. They made sure we were happy with the food and our whole experience. Of course, the shopping is a delightful experience in itself. Kudos to Bonnie and Linda on a job well done. |
