Food: The high points of the Garden Tea Room are that it is convenient when in Allentown, NJ, and the décor is tasteful and elegant, with fresh flowers in porcelain vases. The service, food and selection are good but not great—I would say “adequate” is the most accurate word. Dainty sugar bowls sadly are filled with packets rather than cubes or loose sugar. We were offered the selection of hot tea, which looked above average, but as it was an outrageously hot day, I was very disappointed that only one type of iced tea was being offered. The menu had a selection of rather expensive services (permutations standard tea room fare), but few a la carte options. I am so sorry that you were disappointed. Our feedback from other patrons is that our portions are very generous in comparison to other tea rooms in the area. We choose to serve sugar in packets because it is far more sanitary, even if it is more costly for us. As far as price, I regularly compare our prices to other tea rooms in the area and can assure our customers that our prices are lower than most. Our menu is also in line with what other tea rooms offer. I am not sure which day you came. We strive to give good, professional service. I will speak to the staff members who worked on 8/21 and let them know what your impression of the service was. Again, I am sorry if it was not top notch when you visited the tea room. Food: I attended a birthday celebration here last week and even though there were ten of us and only one server the food and teas were served in a timely fashion and delicious as well! We were treated with courtesy, and our server was very attentive. The charming room is tiny but I don't think the other patrons were packed in tightly at all. |

Food: Wonderful setting and great tea. I'm not sure why it's taken so long to show up on teamap, but this is a nice place in a great town. For a meal you might want to go elsewhere though... the food is too expensive for the quality, which was ho-hum. I didn't feel entirely welcome, but not enough to not make me return for a pot or two. |
