I have eaten lunch and attended a special event at the Ladies of Lucerne Tearoom!! Both were EXCELLENT!!! In fact, the building reminds me of a castle, and I felt that I was truly treated ROYALLY!!!! I look forward to going again!

I'm wondering if some of the earlier 'review' writers attended the recent 'Girls Night Out' Special Event at Ladies of Lucerne on January 17, 2008? If not, they missed a really fun evening. Featured speaker was local celebrity and graphic artist, Cheree Berry, author of 'Hoorah for the Bra' along with Catwalk Productions, who modeled beautiful vintage undergarments. The program was truly entertaining, and the food and wine (yes, you could ALSO have tea if you wanted to)were outstanding. The owner's choice of many delicious southern delights proves she knows what she is doing. It was a sell out crowd with over 60 women in attendance. A nice change from some other 'boring' tearooms I have visited while in St. Louis. I will definitely return to this lovely setting when I come back this way. Caroline from The Carolinas 1/26/2008

I have visited the Ladies of Lucerne tea room many times for a variety of reasons. They have catered to many people's interests in the community with all of the various special events they have held, the American Doll series were amongst my favorites. Other times I have brought a group of girlfriends to play bridge and they were just wonderful. I have been to a few other tea rooms all over the world and I have to say they hold up in my mind. I felt like rather than a modern building that is decorated to look historic, LOL is in located in the Barn of Lucerne which holds a hundred plus years of history! The portion size (after reading some of the comments) seems to be a big issue for visitors but I think people are so used to super sized meals and extra extra everything that 'tea sandwiches... (more)' look small...maybe asking for more would solve that problem? I think it's a wonderful nook in St. Louis for a dignified luncheon and would recommend that people who haven't been there go and to those who have tried it and didn't like it, try it again. [Just as a side note, since Carole M., was scrutinized for her review, I have no connection to the owner other than from my visits to her place.]
