Variety: I've been to the Lyon's Den many times (it's close to where I work). It's a cozy neighborhood “coffee house” hangout that is teenager friendly. This is NOT a tea house, although they have about 25 loose leaf teas to choose from (Davidson Teas if I recall correctly). Open mike during the week and live (mostly amateur) music most weekends. It has a limited menu (mostly deli style stuff & baked goods) with real good sandwiches. Super friendly service. Nice place, but if you expecting to experience something new or unusual, you will be disappointed. |

For food, you'll find a healthy selection of cafe-style offerings. I'm fond of the giant sugar cookies--you get a d... (more) |

Variety: Correct me if I'm wrong, but this place never struck me as a teahouse. A hangout, maybe. In those respects, it's kind of fun, but it looks like a teenager's club. I don't remember teas being really promoted there (I've been twice) and unfortunately each time I ordered their pricey mango cake, I tasted something quite moldy tucked in there like it had started to spoil. Ambiance wise, I felt comfortable and wanted to hang out... it was just so costly and for what was a disappointing purchase. I think I paid 3.75$ for my small spoiled cake. The worst part is, there was something decidedly off in it even the second time I tried, just in case it was a rare case of bad luck. It's been quite a few months since I've been, though. I hope they have that sorted. Still... I ... (more) |
