I am from Augusta, Ga and had lunch and tea here on Sat. My mom had the potted geramium tea excellent and she had the scone and quiche and was great. I had apricot tea it was really good. I had the lady Catherine was delicious. The house and the grounds are heavenly. I will recommend the potted geramuim to my friends.

Two friends and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Potted Geranium on Wednesday. It was a perfect lunch, what more could anyone want. Tasty food, tastfully served, I might add. And in an atmosphere of genteel graciousness. Every detail was perfect. Then we were escorted throughout the beautiful house, which was a bonus we didn't expect. It was evident that every detail had been carefully planned.
The gardens were given as much attention as the house. It was an afternoon to remember.

My review is solely based on the Duchess of Bedford afternoon tea. My mother had the chicken salad (The Magnolia) and liked her meal, but I felt the afternoon tea was overpriced for what you are served and the tea sandwiches were not good. I have a tea business near Athens and have been to several tea parlors and had tea in England, so I know what afternoon tea is and what it costs. The good: the scones were excellent, moist enough without being crumbly and just the right sweetness. The salad was good. The building is beautiful, but I thought it lacked atmosphere. The china is nice, as is the table setting. I didn't feel warm and welcomed, maybe because we had a child with us and I got the idea they don't like kids, even though afternoon tea is old hat for my daughter. Our server was very p... (more)

The Potted Geranium is a rare find in today's world. To start with, the staff is welcoming, courteous and kind. Pair the service with the truly beautiful surroundings might be enough to make your day, but the experience does not stop there. The Chef is true culinary artist and certainly her food testifies of her skill. The Potted Geranium serves a truly outstanding tea service, but they also offer wonderful lunch choices and can easily accommodate groups. (We have been there when there were parties in other rooms and noticed absolutely no impact in service to our small party of two.) The teas are excellent and varied. We try one new flavor each time and are always pleased with our choice. Our favorites so far include The Potted Geranium Blend, Georgia Peaches and Cream, French Caramel, and... (more)

We just returned home from a wonderful afternoon at the Potted Geranium. My husband and I were on a one night getaway for the first time in 16 months without any children. And we have FOUR little boys so believe me this was an absolute treat. We ended our special getaway with lovely tea and dessert at the most beautiful tea room. The desserts were delectable and the service impecable! The ladies were incredibly police and charming. The owners husband made a stop in the restarant and was so kind and came around and spoke to everyone in the room. At the end we got a tour of the entire home and it was gorgeous. We can't wait to go back again! If you need some peace, quiet, to be rejuvenated, to step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and go back in time you should visit this tea room!

High Tea at The Potted Geranium was an event to be remembered for a long time. The house is charming and most welcoming. The food was beautifully prepared and delicious. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The owner gave us a delightful tour of the tea rooms which are all beautifully decorated with exquisite detail. From start to finish, this tea room deserves the highest praise. Thank you for a wonderful two hours.

What a perfect place... The attention to detail - from the room design to the color selection to the actual tea service and food - was delightful. I had the Georgia Peaches & Cream tea, and bought some to take home. I've already had several cups :-)
The scones were flaky and sugary without being over-powering. The sandwich presentation was spot-on, and every sandwich tasted great. I especially liked the chicken salad - the peach chutney was just the right touch.
Definitely worth the drive from Atlanta. I plan to take my family of aunts on their next visit.

Friends and I celebrated a birthday at lunch in one of the lovely rooms at the Potted Geranium and had a delightful time. There was such a beautiful selection of teas that I had a difficult time making a decision. The teapots were all covered in charming tea cozies and the tea was fragrant and delicious. Lunch was also a real treat...I look forward to returning and trying other things on the menu that my friends were raving about as they were enjoying their lunch. Beautiful atmosphere and ambiance.

Upon entering the Potted Geranium, you quickly realize you are in another world! It is filled with wonderful food, and gracious employees. The owner obviously wants to create an atmosphere where people can feel relaxed and away from today's cell phones, loud noises and even crying babies. I realized quickly that the beautiful crystal, quality china, and excellent service, is reflected in the price. Sometimes you get what you paid for.

To anyone who finds this establishment lacking in anything, whether it be manners or portions in food, you are sadly mistaken, the food is top quality (the food is priced perfetly for what you get and the work that goes into it), the portions are more than most can handle, and the service, and the employees are the politest group of women I have ever met.

- Anonymous 07/19/10

Although our server was very nice, one of the female employees was not. We were there at 11:30 and the only party in a room. My cell phone rang. I did not answer it, only looked to see who was calling (I left workmen alone at my house and gave them my # in case of an emergency). This woman rounds the corner and, very rudely, TOLD me to either turn my cell phone off or put it on vibrate that it was disturbing the other guests. I did not mind complying, just could not believe how abrupt and rude she was. I will NEVER return to this establishment! In addition, the portions were small and the meal overpriced.

Walking up the sidewalk, I was overwhelmed by the sight of this restaurant! Several of my friends and family went to the potted geranium for brunch, and when we walked in the door we were overwhelmed by what beautiful restaurant this is! Every detail carefully attended to, with the breath taking décor that instantly takes you back to a slower pace in time. From the minute we entered we were warmly welcomed and treated like royalty! The food was exquisite, exceptionally fresh and almost too pretty to eat! I must recommend that everyone try the chilled peach soup - I have never had anything like it!!!!!!!! They also served our food on the most fine and delicate porcelain china – the tea cups were paper thin! This tea room is worth a trip from Atlanta! Every wedding planner should know about this restaurant – it is the perfect setting for a bridal shower or any special event!!! This is an exceptional tea room!!!

As a mother of 5 young children, I am always looking for an escape. I have definitely found a treasured escape in The Potted Geranium! A formal tea room, reminiscient of my time in London with all the charm of the South. We enjoyed a beautifully prepared and delicious lunch along with tradition afternoon tea service. The service was impecible and the atmosphere was relaxing. Our small group did not want to leave (but the husbands and children beckoned). I will undoubtly return as often as possible and will introduce my children to this wonderful world when they are old enough to appreciate it. Thank you to Laura and the Tea Team for my tasty, restful and beautiful escape.

A drive from my hometown in South Carolina to the Potted Geranium in Greensboro, Georgia was well worth it, and even from my new home in North Carolina, the experience was delightful. Laura Kanitra and her friendly staff welcomed us warmly at each visit with the utmost personal touch and unmatched hospitality. The variety of teas offered is impressive, and the dishes and desserts were quite a treat. Ms. Kanitra has renovated a historic Southern home into a beautiful venue, each room decorated with thoughtful detail appropriate to the English Tea tradition. The Potted Geranium would be a wonderful place for bridal and baby showers, birthdays, or a leisurely afternoon.

I had a wonderful experience at the Potted Geranium. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of all the teas. I had the French Caramel tea which was incredible. The quiche, salad, mini desserts and sandwiches were delicious and artfully prepared. The Potted Geranium's atmosphere can best be described as traditional, Victorian-style decor. Each room is beautifully decorated and sets the perfect ambience for an afternoon tea.

The Potted Geranium was wonderful! I went with a group of friends, and everyone really enjoyed the experience. The food was fantastic - I had a delicious quiche and salad for lunch, and the tray had sandwiches, scones and petit fours. Best food out of any tea house I have been to. The variety of teas was also impressive, and each selection comes in its own pot. Tasting my friends' teas was one of the best parts (and I thought all were good). I'll definitely be back soon!

The Potted Geranium is an excellent location for a bridal shower, or really any event for friends and family to gather together. The selection of teas is amazing and I enjoyed one of the best chai teas I've tasted since traveling in India. The quiche and soup were delicious, and the tea tray left nothing to be desired. The scones were heaven. The owner and her staff were attentive and caring. I can't wait to return to the Potted Geranium!

The Potted Geranium is simply the best tea room I have ever been to. My female in-laws and I love to try Southern tea rooms but none have compared to this outstanding place. From the moment the big yellow house comes into view, you know you are in for something special, and the owner and staff do not disappoint. Each room has a beautiful color theme and there is a gift shop with all kinds of elegant goodies. The tea ranges from delicious familiars like Earl Grey to The Potted Geranium’s yummy custom blend. And—oh my goodness – the food is fabulous! Generally at tea rooms I’ve been to the salad and scones are good but the rest falls short—especially sandwiches. Everything here was amazing—I’m still dreaming about the quiche and the chocolate-apricot petit fours! I enjoyed my first Potted Geranium tea service while attending a friend’s beautiful wedding shower but with the easy hour-drive from Atlanta, I hope to soon be back with my tea-house-loving in-laws and friends!

I brought my 2 favorite cousins to The Potted Geranium this past Saturday to celebrate their birthdays. And how lovely it was! Our lunch was perfect, presented beautifully and very tasty. We each had a different tea and argued that our personal selections were the best, but honestly, they each were wonderful (Blueberry, Orange Spice and The Potted Geranium Signature Blend). All of the above was fantastic, but I think what impressed me the most was how welcoming and gracious the staff was to us. I felt right at home, very pampered and did not want to leave. Put this one on your list of MUST visit teahouses. I recently had the pleasure of introducing my 3 nieces to this fabulous establishment. The atmosphere was relaxed, calming and friendly. The tea choices were vast and the staff very knowledgeable about the differences. The setting is a beautifully restored Victorian home with each of the 6 rooms painted and decorated in playful pastel colors. The food was AMAZING, as we each enjoyed one of the luncheon specials.
