My best friend, Gail, introduced me to this tea room. She raved about how wonderful everything was so I had high expectations. The food was exceptional, the presentation was very appealing and the gift shop was full of treasures. I didn't have room for dessert so I have to return soon! The readings are quite unique and add more charm to an already endearing experience. Thank you!

This is a lovely tea room semi-Victorian in style in St. Louis, Missouri. It offers a quaint environment, great tea and food at great prices. Their scones are marvelous and served with a variety of spreads. Dishes on which you are served along with the tea pots that are used are different at each table. The day we went happened to be the first anniversary of the establishment at its new location, and they treated their guests to a piece of cake. The servers are pleasant and helpful. St. Louis Tea Room also provides various items for sale. Highly suggest you go.

The St. Louis Tea Room is like stepping back in time to an era where life wasn't so hectic, and people enjoyed simple pleasures like tea time and poetry. The food was superb, the tea delightful, and the service was pleasant. I especially loved hearing the hostess read an Irish folk tale, she was the highlight of my afternoon.

So I grew up in this area and I was driving around the old neighborhood when I came apon the tea room. So I decided to stop in and see. I was greeted at the door by and very nice hospitalble woman who I later learned was the owner. I was sat promptly at one of the cute little tables. Soon I was approached by a very cute waitress named Amanda who suggested a wonderful Cherry Almond tea which I enjoyed very much. She then brought me some wonderful warm scones with all the fixins you would need to really enjoy the scones fully. Yummy. I then asked Amanda what she would suggest for my lunch and told her to suprise me she smiled and told me I would not be dissapointed. About 10 minutes later I was served a beautifuly presented plate of Chicken salad with a small house salad on the side. It was ... (more)

The tea selection is always excellent, and the decor is lovely. The owner can be grumpy, though, so look out. I brought a large group there last year & the owner shouted at one of my guests so rudely that he swore he would never return. Then she turned and yelled at me when I told her that one of our other guests couldn't make it (we had about 15 people there) & with a raised voice told me that 'she had reserved the entire room for us,' which was clearly not true since there were several full tables in there before we even arrived.

It's too bad, in a way, because I liked the place, but I'll never go back again. Their service is uneven; sometimes really friendly and sweet, and other times just plain cranky.

'When one encounters scones so perfect, the only acceptable is to reaction is to remorselessly gobble them covering them with cream, butter, wine jelly then to compliment the flavors with a sip of lively tea.'

Along with the best scones I've ever had, excellent tea and unique atmosphere, the lunch sandwiches were satisfyingly good as were the sides. I will patronize this establishment...a lot.

I have been to many tea houses throughout the US and the St Louis Tearoom is a complete delight. Their attention to detail is splendid and makes all the difference in creating a memorable experience. I have to comment too on the people that complain about service . My advice, give them grace and there are plenty of patrons that could simply learn to be patient. This isn't a fastfood establishment. St Louis Tearoom is a truly wonderful experience and anyone would really be missing out to not come and enjoy it for themselves.

I visited this tearoom with my friends for a Christmas Party. The food was excellent! Especially the quiche. The service was outstanding. They even read a Christmas story. It brought tears to my eyes. We had a lovely time and I will be back.

I have recently visited the St. Louis Tearoom with a small group of friends. We absolutely LOVED it!!! Where else do you get a poem or a short story read to you while you eat? It was my friends birthday, and not to ruin the surprise, she got a decadent gift in her beverage. The tearoom is a place of serenity where you can block out the rest of your busy life and enjoy the moment with friends and tea. I highly recommend patronizing this establishment!!!!!!!

I had been there several times only because the food was so good. The service was terrible but I was hoping it would get better. The last time I went there, I was left standing in the front area waiting for a table. The older woman (who usually gives the lousy service) saw me, caught my eye and then proceded to begin to read a poem to the diners already seated. No one else came to see if there was anyone waiting and so I decided to leave. Everytime I was there before, I had to wait to be seated (even if the place is almost empty) There is never anyone in the front area to see if anyone comes in for a table. Such a shame because I love the food.
