The Clipper Ship under full sail a sight to behold. Masts reaching high into the sky, hulls with knife-edged bows slicing the waves and acres of canvas driving the ship at 14 knots. Its purpose was clear; transport tea and goods from China to London and New York as fast as possible. The Clipper Age was short lived, however, and because of their delicate, lightweight structure these ships soon disappeared. Steam ships took over the shipping lanes and the Clippers sailed into oblivion. The romance of that age lives on in our hearts and minds.

Food: I have traveled extensively throughout the United States with and this is still my favorite tea room in the nation. My wife and I go to NC for the beach and the Tea Clipper. If we leave the beach we go to the Tea Clipper. The selection of teas is unsurpassed. If you have a favorite blend or single estate tea, there's a very good chance they have it in stock. The blueberry scones are the best I've had anywhere. The owner/operator Elaine is a wealth of tea knowledge and an absolute delight. The Tea Clipper is an excellent place to grow in tea wisdom. The selection of tea ware for sale is top notch and offers something for all people of good taste. This is also a tea room in which a man can be comfortable, not too frilly, not too formal. |
