Good food - terrible service. We went with a group of 8 women. We all ordered separate items. One ordered a Trio, but without dessert; she was charged for the dessert anyways. Others ordered entrees/salads without certain toppings - got those toppings anyways. The server came with our handwritten tickets explaining that parties over 8 are charged gratuity. (Not posted anywhere or stated in the menu - but a common practice and not too surprising.) We each paid our bill and mine was with a credit card. The manager came chasing after me saying that his staff person forgot to add on her own gratuity, but he would just go ahead and add it onto the already SIGNED credit card receipt. Really? You're going to chase after me for $6 when you just had a $160 table, because your staff can't do math? And commit a federal theft charge, because he TOLD me (didn't ASK me) that he was going to do this. The food is good, but not worth the hassle.

Excellent service, yummy food, and absolutely wonderful desserts! And the gift shop is a great place to spend time if waiting for your table. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

We loved this tea room. Beautiful setting, lovely decor and what a wait staff! They were fantastic! We loved the tiered servers. Our lunch was wonderful and the desserts were fabulous! Highly recommend this beautiful depot for lunch.

We held a private luncheon at The Tearoom at the Depot on Monday and had a wonderful time. The food was great, as was the service and atmosphere. Our entire group felt very welcome, unrushed and truly catered upon. Many of our guests had never been to the Depot before, but they will all be returning! Thank you to Josh and staff for making our lunch such a memorable event!!

Our first time there and everything was wonderful! The soft music, the decorations, the quality of food and service. It gave us the relaxing break we were looking for.
Thank you!
I read the other reviews including the person who wasn't happy and that is too bad, but MY GOODNESS how often do you get such a nice response from business owners......they apologized ....that's almost unheard of these days. That would go a long way with me in letting by gones be by gones.

Be sure to ask how much time is allowed for a reservation. I attended a bridal shower at this tea room and at 2 hours with three gifts remaining to be opened, our party of 11 was directed to relinquish our table. We were then moved to the food prep area 'garden room'. While I understand that another party was waiting to take our place, the final gifts were opened and we were out the door in less than 15 minutes. A lovely day ended on a sour note.

Tearoom Response
We sincerely apologize for your experience at the Tea Room Saturday. We are sorry that we, as owners, were not there that day to assist your party better. Before you even emailed us, we had talked to our employees to see how the day had gone and they told us 'not good'....which is unusual.
Usually for groups, we do have a 2 hour limit before starting a room charge. We do not, however, charge that if the party was not informed ahead of time as yours was not. We are really sorry your party got moved and unless our employees thought there was some other solution, I trust they would not have asked you to. The Garden Room does house the waitress station as well as seating for up to 20 guests. We apologize that we made you feel like you were in the 'food prep area'. Unfortunately that day there was a party of 30 waiting to be seated and it was causing problems in the floral shop next to us.
We would love to discuss this on the phone with you and make this right, whether that is a free lunch or whatever we can do to help turn that sour note into a sweet one! Thank you!!
Josh & Kate Virkler, Owners
