Variety: Our family has been enjoying this tearoom for years. We have been to all of the tearooms downtown, as well and in Summerville, and by far This Whole House is a stand out. It far far surpasses The Thouroughbreed Club at the Omni and works diligently to be different from other tearooms. The tea selections, coffee's, both the quality of food and selection are all excellent. The gift shop has many unique items and the atmosphere is quaint and charming. A terrific place to sit quietly and enjoy the company you're with. We enjoy This Whole House immensely and keep coming back, comparing it to all others. Definitely #1 and now they are serving dinner and Sunday Brunch. We will be taking advantage of this. |

Variety: My mother and I visited this tea room for the first time yesterday for lunch. I was skeptical having been to some tea rooms that I found to be too cutesy and over the top in knick knacks and dried flower arrangements. But this place was such a find! The atmosphere was cozy, stylish, and very well done in all things vintage. The attention to detail with not only the presentation of the meals and teas, but the service was perfect. I had the quiche, which was very good and came with a side of fresh fruit, artistically arranged. My mother had the chicken diane, and normally she is very picky about her food, so I was surprised that she cleaned her plate entirely. We are both planning to go back there for dinner very soon. |

Thank you so much for your review, it was our pleasure to have you and your mother join us for lunch. We use the best ingredients we can to make sure our food is flavorful and enjoyable to everyone. We choose not to be so frilly or girly as men like to experience good food and great atmosphere as well. We look forward to see you both again really soon, and thank you again for telling others about us.Judy |

Variety: My favorite place to go in Summerville. Mrs. Judy, Mecia, & the staff are the best! The food, atmosphere, and company are always fabulous and I love my visits. I try to go as often as I can. I bring a book and enjoy some of the best hot teas around. Coconut Truffle and Maple Sugar are my favorites. The homemade soups and quiche are the best around! |

We just attended a Bridal luncheon and was just delighted with the quiche (out of this world delicious!), the chicken salad, and the beautiful assortment of fruit! The Whole House was the perfect place for our group! Quiet, quaint, and beautiful! It will definitely be a new stop for me and my soon to be daughter-in-law when I am in town! Tearoom Response
Thank you Susan, it was so nice to see you and your husband again. It is always a joy when our guests take the time to share their experience about TWH with others. Your support for our business is much appreciated. We look forward to your visit again.(I’m also glad that your husband enjoys our Smokey Siberian Tea, it is certainly the tea to enjoy this time of year, and he is correct in envisioning a campfire, outdoors and leather. This tea is a hit with the men of our lives.) See you soon Judy |

Variety: TWH is the only place my neighbor and I go when having lunch together. When my children and grandchildren come to visit me, I always take them here. My grandchildren range in age from 5 to 18 and they love to have grandma bring them to TWH. Even though the menu is limited to a few choices, those choices cover everyone's particular taste. My favorite is the quiche. There are many varieties of quiche dishes they prepare and I have never been disappointed. The fresh fruit you get with your meal is second to none! Certainly not to forget their tea selection, I always get their featured tea of the day and again, I am never disappointed. Whatever your taste in food and/or tea their preparation of each is oustanding! Judy is wonderful as is her daughter and all the staff. The atmosphere is friendly, happy and relaxing. |

The tea room, “This Whole House” is a phenomenal place to eat. The food has the flair and taste of being prepared by a master chef. The presentation of the dishes and the exceptional flavors that delight your taste buds express everything important about local cuisine and South Carolina pride. |

Tearoom Response
Dear Cathy,Thank you for your wonderful review. Many people don't understand that running a small tearoom and gift shop is a 24/7, full time job, but when our guest come tell us that we're doing good things it makes the time we spent preparing and planning all worthwhile. My staff and I appreciate your observations and comments. We welcome you back again real soon, as guests like you make our day brighter. Thank you Judy Thomas |

Variety: So sad this tea house has really gone down hill tremendously since Judy isn't there much. The food which was once wonderful is now ok and the huge pile of fresh fruit and nuts has twice now contained rancid melon. I keep going back because i really liked it and I allow everyone some bad days but its obvious that its not turning around. I go to tea house for a special experience, beautiful dishes, exceptional food, atmopshere...being served on paper plates & cups officially ruined it for me. I don't pay $25 for 2 peoples lunch to get served on Dixie...even Perkins uses plates. The waitress used rising food expense as a reason to use paper...sorry girls no dice in this industry. If you don't know your clientele better than this your going to keep losing money. Sorry ya'll you have final... (more) |

Tearoom Response
Dear Ann,First and foremost let me thank you for your comments and review. In response to your dissatisfaction of being served from paper plates, let me explain the idea. I decided to test paper products as a trial basis and implement during our lunch hours only. I chose this option in hopes of reducing labor costs and offsetting food prices that are continuously on the rise. My goal was to find the least customer-disruptive way to minimize those costs without reducing the quality or quantity of food severed to my guests. In addition, I thought by saving water we were being more Eco-friendly and “green.” Although I have had many of my guests state that the paper products were not a problem and were delighted that I didn't change our food portions or ingredients, there have been a few that did not care for the change. Since receiving the complaints/concerns and re-evaluating my decision, I have decided that using paper products, no matter how cost effective or “green,” is not the way I want this whole house to be represented. So, as I write this, I am no longer using paper products. In response to your “rancid” melon. There is no explanation as to why your fruit was less than satisfactory. We cut our fruit fresh every day, however, because we pile such large portions of fruit on the plate, often times it touches other food items and can change the taste. Nonetheless, I take full responsibility for your experience while you or any customer dine in our establishment. I am very grateful to my clientele and believe I do know them reasonably well. I do know that should any of my “good” customers become unhappy with ANYTHING that happens in our tearoom, they are sure to let me or my employees know at the time they are here so it can be handled appropriately. It is our, and most importantly my, job to see to it that my customers are happy each and every time they walk though my doors. It is also my job to bring my customers the freshest products I can, whether it's butter, cream, fruits, meats, teas and even coffee, but if I am unaware of problems or concerns, I am put at an unfair advantage to resolve the situation. Finally, as I have been open to your comments and have taken them as helpful constructive criticism, the last sentence about my daughter was mean-spirited and uncalled for. The passing of judgment on how people look is inconsiderate on your part and to post such accusations on a public forum is in poor taste. I hope that my response to your criticism will bring you back as a customer and know that I and my staff are more than willing to address any concerns you might have when they are bought to our attention. Should you have any other concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at 843-851-8030. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to seeing you in the future during a much more pleasant dining experience. The proud owner of this whole house, JUDY THOMAS |

Love all the fruit they add to their meals. Didn't care for the 'chinese snack items' they added. Great atmosphere. Enjoyed the lunch. We will return. |

Thank you for your review, the little 'Chinese snack items' are just a little crunch we sprinkle on top of the fresh fruit, they are actually Rice Crackers with nuts. Next time you visit with us just ask us not to add those on your plate.Look forward to seeing you again Judy |
