Absolutely wonderful afternoon tea! This was my second visit to The White Rabbit with a tea group. We have been to MANY tea rooms and I must say that this is my favorite. The White Rabbit is a cute, cozy, and charming little tearoom. The gift shop has many unique treasures. Lillian and Ted for wonderful hosts. They treat you like friends coming to visit. All the food was delicious! The scones were outstanding and the presentation was beautiful! Lillian and Ted have quite an extensive variety of teas to choose from. I had a lovely time. Thank you Lillian and Ted.

I and my 3 friends recently enjoyed afternoon tea at the White Rabbit. We were quite impressed with the service, atmosphere, presentation, all the teas available, and the delicious scones Ted made. In fact, all the food on the 3-tiered server was excellent. As an added bonus, the shop has a superior collection of gifts. Thanks to Lillian and Ted for a memorable afternoon.

Enjoyed Afternoon Tea in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Chose the Blood Orange tea, which was very good. Sandwiches and deserts were tasty and substantial (arrived hungry and took a doggie box home). Had fun browsing the gift shop, which has a varied assortment of tea 'stuff.' If it has anything to do with tea, you can probably find it here. Will definitely return soon.

I was first introduced to The White Rabbit Tea Room by a client who has become a friend. We have enjoyed tea there many times and have consistently enjoyed a wonderful experience. I have had the pleasure of enjoying tea in many places throughout Great Britain, including the famous Brown's Tea Room in London and I have found the care to brewing at The White Rabbit Tea Room to be without compare!!! The atmosphere of the tea room is always relaxing and pleasant and Ted's quiche and scones are truly special....and he makes his own clotted cream!! As an Interior Designer, I find the ambiance and whimsical design of the tea room very refreshing...not overstuffed or overdone, it is more like many quaint tea rooms throughout England and Ireland. The shoppe is filled with a variety of nice items, ... (more)

I recently brought my sisters-in-laws over from PA to 'Full Afterternoon Tea'. We had a wonderful experience. We sipped, chatted and ate in a very relaxing atmosphere. As soon as I got home I call my sisters and said we need to make plans with my mom to go to tea again. The food was great and the portions were just right for tea. The selection for tea was extensive.

The only two things I wish they could change is that I could get the 'Full Afternoon Tea' for less then 4, I like going with just a girlfreind, and a softer chair.

Although the food was tasty,I found it to be quite scarce. It would of been fine for a child's tea lunch, but for an average adult like myself I was not satisfied, even after downing a pot of tea. The area was clean and bright but truly lacked the decor of a tea room. Throw some more food on the plate, and dress up the place!! Good luck. Margie
- Margie 02/24/08

tearoom response
Margie,
Are you referring to our Afternoon Tea portions? We have never had a complaint before about our portions being small, in fact 95% of our guests leave with doggy bags. Afternoon Tea is not intended to be a meal but rather a relaxing afternoon pick-me-up. Perhaps this was your first experience with Afternoon Tea?
The name of our shop is 'White Rabbit' Tea Company, which is why our tea room is called the 'Garden Tea Room'. Our tea room is garden themed and decorated to enhance that theme. We do not claim to be Victorian or 'fru-fru'. If all tea rooms were the same what would be the point of visiting more than one?

I recently called this tearoom for reservations and was sorry I did. First, the husband answered the phone and when I told him what I wanted,he gruffly stated that was not his job, here is my wife. When she answered the phone and I told her I wanted reservations for February she asked if I was kidding, that it was 'impossible! just impossible for February!' I felt I was quite the imposition to them and the way I was spoken to was unprofessional and rude. I will never step foot in there!
- Josephine 02/18/08

tearoom response
Josephine,
I'm sorry that you feel you were treated rudely when you called for a reservation. My husband and I treat all of our customers with the utmost courtesy and respect. February is an extremely busy month and we are booked well in advance, which is probably what you were told. Our policy is, and always has been, that reservations must be made at least 48 hours ahead of time and large groups need to make reservations for late in the day or on Saturdays after 2:00 pm. Our tea room is very small (can hold 16 people during normal business hours)and Ted does all of the cooking and baking from scratch each day.
Again,I'm sorry your feelings were hurt.

My husband and I visit the White Rabbit Tea Company about once every two months. That’s only because it takes us about 1 ½ hours to get there, otherwise we would probably be there every other week if not once a week. We’ve gotten to know the owners Lillian and Ted quite well which always makes us feel like we are visiting with friends not a business establishment. Besides being such a delightful couple, Lillian is the tea connoisseur and Ted is the genius behind all the exceptional culinary delights including tea sandwiches, scones and mini pastries. I guarantee if you try the White Rabbit just once you will keep coming back again and again just like we do.

I have a confession to make. I am so enamored of the White Rabbit Tea Shop—and who wouldn't be with the large selection of teas that Lillian brews to perfection and the goodies that Ted makes from scratch—that I am there three times a week. Lillian has done an excellent job of providing the most delightful items for purchase. Tea accessories of course, but also lovely stationary, figurines, scarves, books, chocolates and more. Ted, oh Ted, he makes the most fabulous edibles. Scones of course, but not just your average scones—Ginger & Dark Chocolate, Apricot & White Chocolate, Cranberry & Pecan, Fresh Peach…..you get the picture. But not just scones, Ted makes wonderful quiches on Fridays and, every so often, a luscious dessert. The atmosphere is so charming and peaceful, I can't help but relax in the whimsical Tea Garden. Given all this you are probably thinking that three-days-a-week habit is not so bad, but HEY, they are only open four.

White Rabbit Tea Company truly captures the essence of what going for a cup of tea should be like. The atmosphere is calming and welcoming, while the choices of teas are phenomenal and seemingly endless. Coming home from studying in South Africa in 2006, I had grown accustomed to drinking Rooibos. Disgruntled, I assumed that I would never be able to find it anywhere near me in the US. To my delight, a piece of South Africa was right in my community! Not only do they offer plain rooibos, but also have wonderfully flavorful varieties of rooibos that encompass many different tastes. Who knew that tea could make the transition back to America so much easier. The scones complete with jam and real homemade clotted cream are a little taste of heaven. Treat yourself to a lovely afternoon of tea and delicious delights at the White Rabbit. Snuggled into historic Woodstown, Ted and Lillian have created a relaxing, homey sanctuary in a shoppe filled with goodies to 'ooh' and 'aah' over as well as a tea list sure to please every taste. Chef Ted has the kitchen down pat and his scones(cranberry/nut today), clotted cream, sweets and sandwiches are not only delicious but presented with flair. Lillian is not too busy to stop and answer questions and share the history of the shoppe which has been decorated with wonderful whimsy. My friend and I shared a memorable afternoon with Ted and Lillian and enjoyed the experience so much that we will be bringing a group for a private tea in the future. Let me say, Lillian and Ted have provided a memorable experience each time I have entered their tea room. I have celebrated many special occasions over this past year at The White Rabbit Tea Company. My Aunts and I celebrated my Grandmothers 70th birthday with a fabulous afternoon tea. My Mema is a very picky woman and she enjoyed every detail Lillian and Ted offered. I have NEVER seen her so impressed! She has been back numerous times since our celebration. Then I held an intimate 50th birthday gathering for a dear friend here. Again each moment right down to the adorable birthday cupcake in a fine china tea cup and saucer was exquisite. These are just two of the many positive experiences I have had at The White Rabbit Tea Company. I look forward making this tea room a part of many special events to come! Thank you Lillian and Ted for making my memories memorable!

Lovely, whimsical, relaxing are just a few words to describe this wonderful little tea room. The food all delicious and made fresh daily by Ted, even the clotted cream is made fresh daily - you can't beat that. The variety of teas- amazing so many to choose from you just have to keep coming back because when you thought you have tried just about everyone they get a new one in .
I was extremely disappointed to read the review from 'linda' and how she said the food was store bought because I have never had anything that waseven close to store bought. As far as the comment on the smelling of the teas I think it is wonderful, it really gives you an idea of how the tea will taste and they only take the lid off of the tin no one puts their head inside the tin.

But I love the place and Ted and Lillian are always delightful. If you haven't stopped in you really are missing out on a lovely tea room experience!!

sorry, but i brought my daughters and granddaughters there and the food was ok, desserts store bought, scones were good. the only real problem i had was letting everyone smell the tea that you serve right out the canster. this is something you don't do. you need to have small samples in containers, not the ones you scoop from. i know the business been in it for 38 yrs. hope this helps you.

We're sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit to our tea room. None of our baked goods are store bought, they are all made from scratch, on the premises by Ted. If you were unhappy with the food you could have told us when you were asked 'Is everything alright?'
Smelling loose teas from the tin does not pose a health risk. Teas are made with boiling water and the tea in the tins is never touched by anyone.
