I walked in with questions, and walked out not only with answers, but with one of the best retail experiences I have ever had. The owner spent time with me and explained numerous things, including letting me sample several teas and explaining each teas properties and when to drink and how to steep it properly. The travel cups are awesome and everyone in my family now owns one. I have half my co-workers interested in stopping in and would very highly recommend this store to everyone!

I stumbled upon this shop last year and was so pleased to find the best tea shop I've been to in this state, just 15 mins from my home! About 5 months before I found out about Xiu Xian Tea, I was in China. Makos' hospitality brought back exciting memories of tea tasting in the shops in Beijing, Lijiang, and Xian. I'm so happy to have Xiu Xian tea in the Kent/Des Moines area, I was almost out of the tea I brought back from China!

I was introduced to the tea shop soon after they opened whey they were in a little corner unknown in this community. From then on, I have introduced it to many friends, family and coworkers -- many who have now become regulars.

Want to have a 'real' tea party? Need a quiet place to escape to in the middle of a hectic day? What about a creative date? If you answered yes to any of these, then Xiu Xian Tea is the place to go. The staff not only know what they are talking about, but they are friendly and caring as well. Mako is a wealth of knowledge and a gem. If none of these is a reason to visit, then using one of her special tea cups with a variety of her teas is a definite conversation starter. 'What is that?' someone asks -- looking at your cup with a flower in it, or something that looks a lot like seaweed. What a great chance to talk to that someone who you've been wanting to meet.

Check it out, if you haven't already! You won't be disappointed!

The lady who helped me the day I was in was very friendly and knowledgeable. She invited my friend and I to sit and sample our teas with her before we bought anything. This made for a welcoming atmosphere. Both the teas I bought, a smoky jade oolong and jasmine pearl green tea, are lovely and flavorful when prepared following the store owners instructions. I will return again and bring friends with me.

The word is TEA, the benefit is well supported and the previous message was correct. The Xui Xian Tea shop in Kent is both quaint and like another world, one from the lands where the tea leaves grew, In fact the owner travels to each province in China where tea plants are grown and brings back only the best of each variety of tea, the best teas in the world. Along with a wide variety of products available from fresh teas to Chinese tea ware and many other items from China, the owner will delight you with the best ways to prepare the teas and ways different teas aid the body. You may even get an insight into Chinese customs and the environment the tea plants are grown in.
As a customer of the shop, I cannot express how highly I recommend that you visit it, especially before Chr... (more)

Five years ago after switching from coffee to tea, I found my Lipton Tea to be no longer satisfying. After trying numerous flavored teas it still was not what I wanted. About ready to give up and go back to coffee, I stumbled across this quaint little tea shop just a few miles from my house almost 2 years ago now. What I found when I walked in suprised me. Customer service with a smile. After saying hello I was asked what I would like. I had no idea. Thought I knew about tea since I had been drinking it for over 3 years. Wow was I wrong. After selecting 6-7 different teas we headed to the tea tasting table. Hand carved with dragon heads and bridges, this table was beautiful. While preparing the teas the process was being explained to me. Too long of a brew and such can lead to a bad cup of tea.
After this experience I have become a loyal customer. When asked what I wanted for birthday or christmas, I respond ' A gift card from Xiu Xian Tea'

I found this teashop shortly after they opened and have become a regular customer. They have a lot of tea from greens to blacks to reds and art teas - they even have the best bubble tea in town. Mako insists that the customers sit down at a hand carved 'tea table' in the back and sample any of they tea's they want. She doesn't want anybody to buy something they aren't going to like. The people that work in there are VERY friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They know more about tea and the health benefits than I ever knew existed. I love going in there and hate to leave. They have so many different teas that I'm sure they have something for even the pickiest tea drinkers. They have some great teacups and tea sets in the shop too. The owners go to China once a year and hand pick they teas a... (more)

Xiu Xian offers the best organic tea around. They have red, yellow, green, black, white and oolong teas. I have bought teas at other shops and did a side by side comparison and their tea won by a landslide. The service is great and the staff is very knowledgable. They often have tea tastings in the back at the hand-carved tea table. And yes it is okay to pour your tea out on that table.
