Overview

When we decided to build our tearoom, we thought long and hard as to what it should feel like. Our conclusion was Sunday tea at our Grandmothers house in England. Fine china, good food and good memories. We think we have achieved that based upon our customers comments.

We want our tearoom to be a happy and relaxing place to visit. We hope to see you soon whether it is for lunch, high tea or just a cup of tea and a friendly chat.

'Nice really matters'

We are Handicap Accessible.

I have been told that sausages in the US are not like home. I went to this tearoom and found the rumor not to be true. Sausages are the real thing.
Excellent tearoom.

Approximately every year my sister and niece come for a visit from Colorado. One of our 'girls day out' adventures is high tea. We have had tea from tiny little tea rooms to grand high tea at expensive, pricey hotels. We all agreed that this time Ye Old English Shoppe has become our favorite and our top choice. We rarely visit a tea room twice, but I assure you we will be back. Service was wonderful, the food was wonderful, the scones and desserts were more than wonderful--I would say undescribebly wonderful and we loved how you would let us substitute and get either less or more of something we favored. It is very hard to please this sister/daughter/mother act, but I assure you, the experience was more than pleasing!!! Thanks for a lovely afternoon!

I had read about this tea room many times on this website, and was so excited to finally go there! We had high tea there today and it was wonderful. The atmosphere is quaint, the service friendly, and the tea and food presentation was great! We will surely be returning again.

I had taken my Mother last year to your tearoom and it was wonderful. So this year when we were planning a Mother/Daughter family gathering, your tearoom was the obvious choice. My Mother, Sister and Aunts had a wonderful time and suggested an annual tea, so we will be making reservations for next years family gathering. Thank you!!!

I stopped in for tea and scones. I had to wait to get waiting on even though I was the only one there. When I did get my food no one ever came back to check on me. Disappointed after the reviews.

We happened into the tearoom while on a fabric shopping in Intercourse for the day. I found it to be the finest tearoom experience in eastern PA. The atmosphere is truly authentic English, the teas prepared to perfection, and the sweets of the highest quality. We had devine bakewell tarts in Bird's custard and Scones served warm from the oven with delicious lemon curd and preserves. Everything is served on a collection of fine Roayl Albert china which is also available for sale in the shop. Absolutley authentic! I can't wait to go back with all of my girlfriends!

Reputation is well deserved!!! The only gripe I heard out of my 6 guests was that the sandwiches could have been 'fancier'. I thought they were delicious. What made them unusual was that they weren't 80 percent cream cheese or mayo like many tea shops. AND the friendly server customized them to our tastes! The lemon sponge cake was awesome and the fresh scones were to drool over. When the bill came, I was surprised. I have paid 2x as much and not been as pleased as I was w/this tearoom. Will DEFINATELY recommend it to friends.

Drove an hour from Philly to visit the Shoppe, just to see if I'd like to take my family there for tea in the future. It was worth the drive!! I was warmly welcomed & treated by everyone as if I were a long-lost friend. Annette, Carol & staff were quite lovely. I look forward to returning soon with my family, so they too can experience a taste of Britain. Thanks!

With a mother and husband born in England we were looking for food that was authentic. The food and presentation at the tea shop were wonderful and our 8 and 3 year old children loved it! We have also enjoyed taking some of their sausage rolls home. We look forward to coming back again and again!

My recent visit to your wonderful shoppe was my first tearoom experience. I was joined by two granddaughters ages 14 and 12, along with three other family members. Our luncheon was delightful. The food was not only attractive, but delicious and more than ample. The purpose of our visit was high tea for my grandaughters. I was so impressed with how well your staff treated my two young ladies. Making the 'tea' all I had hoped for. My oldest granddaughter now wants her own pretty teacup for tea at home!
In addition, I called a number of times to alter the number in our party. Each time my call was handled plesantly. We intend to make the Ye Olde English Tearoom a yearly 'girls' day out.

As an English boy it was an amazing experience having such a true taste of home in not only taste but decor, spirit and ambience.
There is so much for everyone to enjoy: The American local, tourist or Englishman away from what he values from home.
Ye Olde English Tearoom is the real deal. The Bangers & Mash I recommend but you really must have the Cream Tea afterwards for dessert for a taste of 'West County' delights.
This place is so true to its roots I almost forgot where I was. I almost expected Granny to walk in any moment...!

Since first visiting this tearoom I have brought out-of-town guests, good friends and, on one very special occasion, a very excited 3-year old granddaughter for her first Birthday Tea. Each visit has been a lovely experience. The food is delicious, the scones are the best I have tasted, the tea selection is wonderful, and the hospitality is gracious and welcoming. I am not in the least surprised to read that Ye Olde English Shoppe is in the top 5%. An altogether delightful experience!

When I first visited this tearoom in June 2007 with my mother I had no idea it was in the top 5%. I had decided to treat her for Mother's day but since she lives in NJ we could not get together until June. We both thought it was fabulous. We loved the apricot tea and we were served more food than we could eat. The scones are to die for! And the desserts....they brought tears to our eyes they were so good. I couldn't wait to come back so I brought my nieces (ages 13 and 14) back in July 2007 as a birthday treat. They were nervous because they didn't think they would like tea. They each drank four cups. That time we had the ginger peach, raspberry, and vanilla teas and all three teas were wonderful. Again, at the end we were stuffed with such good food. I can't wait to come back a third time.

On Saturday, August 4th, I brought 11 of my traveling club red hat ladies to the Tea Room for lunch. We had a fabulous time and a most scrumptious luncheon. We were greeted and entertained by Jeremy, one of the owners and he could not have been nicer. The table settings were lovely and the food was well prepared and beautifully presented. There were many delicious varieties of hot and iced teas to choose from. Several of us feasted on the crab and shrimp quiche along with fresh salad greens and veggies. Others enjoyed the large Maui salad with a variety of delectable dressings. We all had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I certainly will be back and will recommend it to all of my friends. Thank you Jeremy and all of the Tea House staff.
