Not a tearoom, though they have some tea. Coffee house by day, restaurant/bar by night. Very industrial - in a good way. Live music, which was good, but too loud to hold a conversation. My 'gourmet meatloaf' was fine but not very gourmet. I'm not really sure why they are posted here. It was a good restaurant, but not someplace to go for tea.

Ok - first off this isn't a sit and eat/sip tea-room. This is a tea/coffee store. As in buy it and take it home to make. So they don't serve food, or at least I don't recall them having food... but that could also be because I was so focused on the great selection that I didn't notice. I was really pleased to get it home and find out that the quality is wonderful as well. You can get a cup brewed to to go, which is a great way to try things. Their prices are really good too. They know their teas, so when I asked questions about the flavor they knew how to answer them. Service was excellent they were helpful and patient and didn't balk when I got a quarter pound of a dozen kinds of coffee and a quarter pound of a couple of teas too.

They have a great tea selection and wonderful deserts. I haven't had their food stuff yet, but I plan on doing so. Their coffee is also really good. They really know what their doing when it comes to brewing both tea and coffee. The environment is nice - very clean, but a bit stark. Usually I like something with a bit more presonality, but it was in no way off-putting. All in all a nice experience and the drinks/desert were to die for.

I went to the Drake the other day and was quite disappointed. Service was poor we waited 10 minutes for someone to greet us and then were told to sit anywhere there was a tea service laid out. The tea while ok in quality, was nothing special and we had to flag down the wait staff to get more hot water. The teapots dribbled horribly and the cup and saucer were heavy, chunky restraunt fare. The food was meager and uncreative. Full afternnon tea consided of five small finger sandwhiches, one scone the size of half a golf ball and half slice of bannana bread each and three people had to share 6 petifores for desert. All for the whopping price of about $30 a head after tax, before tip.
