Cafe Lalo has become known as the place to go before and after the movies, the theater or dinner to enjoy a great dessert and an expertly-made cappuccino. With our unique European design and open air atmosphere by floor-to-ceiling French windows, Cafe Lalo is the place to see and to be seen. Come sip an espresso with the writers, artists and celebrities who join the locals to enjoy soothing jazz and classical music in a relaxing atmosphere.

With our great success during the afternoon and evening hours we are pleased to open for brunch daily from 8am-4pm (weekdays) and 9am-4pm (weekends). We welcome you to sit, relax, read the morning paper and enjoy our bountiful selection of fresh baked breads, muffins, croissants, and pastries. We also will be serving the freshest tropical fruits and berries, organic cereals, natural yogurt, smoked fish, our special steamed eggs, Belgian Waffles, sandwiches and salads. We will, of course, be serving the finest Super Premium Coffee, cappuccinos and espressos, both regular & decaffeinated.

A great place for a late night cup of tea and delicious slice of a decadent dessert. Also a great place to see and be seen. It is always crowded, but worth the squeeze. My husband used to work nearby and we often went there after a concert.

I love Cafe Lalo's. its such a cute little place but the only issue is it gets super crowded because its so small and you always land up having to wait endlessly. another tea room that is as good if not better is the The Tea Set located in the west village. in fact i recently found a deal on BuyWithMe NYC, where they're offering $30 worth of food and drink for only $15 and you can also get organic tea worth $20 or more for only $10. Here is the link for anyone who wants to try something new and different. Enjoy! http://bit.ly/b5pi8b

      Never Again I Pray

There are probably no reviews for this site because it is really a coffeehouse. I am writing to say, be warned. There is a gross dismissal of the laws regarding credit card use at Cafe Lalo. If an establishment accepts credit cards, it cannot charge a minimum and it must accept them from all customers, not simply the ones who are not of African descent. When I presented my debit card, I was quite frankly told that only cash was accepted. While I had enough cash to pay for my meal, I was unable to provide the service tip that I intended. I relayed this concern to the cashier, who denied by attempt to pay in by debit/credit card. When I returned with cash, three women who had ordered from the bakery stepped in front of me and payed by credit card. This occurred before my four-year-old daughter, whom I would like to believe in 2007 would not have to witness racism in the middle of Manhattan across the street from its acclaimed Children's Museum.

Cafe lalo is my favorite place for dessert in NYC. Any of their cakes or pies are to die for.
