  Such a cool place not just for the tea but. for the experience. Lots of good green and white teas plus plenty of little bites to enjoy while you're sipping your tea. I highly recommend coming here if you can

  I love love love this place. Its a hidden gem in the city that is decorated beautifully. They offer little snacks, gourmet desserts and pots of tea. They don't have a very large selection and it tends to be a little pricey ( $5 for a pot ) however you can get tea sets with food that make it a little more... valuable. They also do Japanese tea ceremonys in this little house in the tea room. Cool.

  I feel like I am back in Kyoto, Japan! great atmosphere, this cafe really captures what Japanese tea houses, the good ones, are like. But please don't go there. Too many people will spoil the serenity.

  Excellent variety of Asian teas as well as creative and lovely desserts. Quiet atmosphere is soothing and calming. Service was great. A good after-dinner date spot.

  I really love this place. It feels like a small retreat away from the city. The set menu comes with a variety of dishes to sample at a reasonable price. It is a great spot to relax and chat with friends.

  I wanted to throw a very special bridal shower for one of my best friends, and I arranged to have it at Cha-An. The executive chef was extremely accomodating, and the event was a great success. The service was excellent and everybody loved the food.

  I had a wonderful respite at Cha An. After going around the East Village in the hot sun with the hustle and bustle yet the unfamilar faces on the street I chanced upon this little teahouse on the second floor walk up. I was very curious to see the inside. The entrance seemed mysterious because of the various cloth curtains one has to pass through to enter. I felt like entering a secret world. And once inside I was so calmed and pleasantly surprised by the decor. The soft ligthing, the natural material, and gracious hostess all made this an exceptional break. I had the sasame creme brulee which was rich but good, and a habiscus cranberry cold tea. Unfortunately after I went home, I had very bad diarrhea, but I think it must have been from eating at Ofuku, the open air stall just a couple store down the line. Cha An is a wonderful place to catch up with an old friend who could talk very easily with you.

  A quite, beautiful spot. It's upstairs, so feels miles away from the bustle of the street. There is a small food menu, with light asain selections and some wonderful desserts (I can highly reccommend the black sesame creme brulee).

  The tea menu is beautifully presented on handmade paper, and even includes a map indicating where the teas come from in the world. I only had two teas, and liked both, but wasn't overwhelmed by the presentation. WIth one I was just given one cup of tea (for $7), and then offereed more water later to steep another. Overall I think the creativity of the teas is less than other places I like in NY, but it was still very enjoyable and is a welcome addition to the East Side. I surely will be back.
