The Gourmet Junction is a little bit of everything...It has an open friendly, multi-purpose interior. People walk in an out throughout the day to get coffee (plain and fancy), ice cream, soup, sandwiches, soda pop. To browse the shelves selling jewelry, scarfs, hats, tea pots, tea cups, candy, chocolates etc....

Yes, I know it is not a traditional style tea room but it is so worth a visit. Full tea is best done by reservation but you can eat there at any time. The food is fresh, well made and plentiful. The tea served by bag OR loose. The service can be slow at times but that is the nature of tea taking, isn't it? But if you are in a hurry??-just say so and the will serve you '123'.

It is a casual open place, friendly staff and costumers alike. I have been going there for years and I say it is well worth a visit any time. So go there.

Plenty of free street parking. When done there walk up and down the street to visit all the other little shops, bakery, meat market, park, library etc.. that Plainfield has to offer.

My friend loves going to tearoom through out the US. I decided to treat her for her birthday. We had full tea which was delightful! Our soup was Chicken Dumpling which was delicious. I chose the Harney&Sons Christmas tea which is in a teabag but is a whole leaf tea. I wanted a spicy cinnamon tea. This did not disappoint! My friend had Earl Grey which is her tea of choice. Our tier of sandwiches came and it was loaded! I really enjoyed the turkey sandwich with the Champagne mustard. I took a jar home. Our teapots were cheerfully refilled. The dessert tier came out which was equally loaded. Yes there were some store bought items on the tier but the cupcakes and cookies were not and they were tasty as well. The full tea is very filling and we took home half of our sandwiches and desserts. Maryanne the owner came over several times to check on us. She is warm, inviting and very pleasant.

You can put a saddle on a pig, but that doesn't make it a racehorse! This place bills itself as the 'Angel Tearoom at Gourmet Junction' -- misnomers all. Make no mistakes, this is the local kiddie ice cream venue with some tables & chairs thrown into the crowded mix of freezers, display counters, children in bathing suits and flipflops, moms with babies in buggies, and overpriced tchotchke for sale. Tea was unceremoniously served in a tall footed coffee mug with demitasse spoons and consisted of a pot of hot water along with a selection of teabags from the local grocery store, accompanied by six miniature, albeit tasty, treats per person. If I hadn't been there on a twofer coupon, I would have been crying over wasting $5 in gas to get to this place instead of LMAO at the absurdity of it all.

Just one block west of Rt. 59 it is barrier free, plenty of street parking, good selection of tea and tea equipment (pots, books, cups&saucers, cookies etc....) for sale. Afternoon tea by reservation (AND well worth it). The shop is great for a quick sitmedown or lunch. There soups are all great! They also sell coffee(s), ice cream, soada pop, jewlry, fancy soup and scone mixes etc... For two years i have had my sister's birthday tea there and they have done a smashing job. For my sisiter they serve her her hot chocolate {her preference} in a pot and they get her birthday cake from the bakery down the street {no outside food brought in, which is normal for most resturants, but they would get it from another licensed bakery and have it beautifully plated and lit with candles when they brought it out - sang Happy Birthday to her too. Nice people, Nice place.

Many Thanks to the owners and staff for the quality of food and service.
