Beyond compare in Houston. Owner is a gem and will love to help you find what you're looking for. Tea always of high quality and variety. Shop has over 100 varieties of tea for sale in either 2oz loose-leaf bags (only option during pandemic) or in little glass pots to sip. There are a series of teacups to choose from as you drink your tea and the calm energy cultivated in this place is astounding. Their single ingrediant herbals, such as rose petal, are definitely worth it. Visit as soon as you can.

The Path of Tea is a find in the city. The tea is the best I have found in Houston. The place is so inviting. It is clean and really makes you feel like you were transported to Japan. They seem to be all about sharing information about Health Benefits of tea. I feel so much better since I have been drinking so much tea. I love the frozen matcha as well. It is like a meal! It's the best tea shop I have ever been to.

I am from Chicago and love tea. I recently moved to Houston and looked for a tea shop to be my home away from home. After trying a few places I found The Path of Tea.

OMG...it is heaven! They have over 150 certified organic teas. The staff was so knowledgeable and helpful. I learned so much about tea.

I selected Organic Blood Orange Pu-erh. It was amazing. If you close your eyes you think you are having a blood orange! It was so delicious.

I met some very interesting people. I became part of the gang in just a few minutes. I think I have found my new family and some great friends.

The Path of Tea is about more than tea...it is about being part of a community. The tea makes me feel so good and it is prepared perfectly.

I am so glad I found The Path of Tea. You have to experience it.

There were quite a few teas on the menu, but I was disappointed that many of them did not show any information about where the tea was from (region, estate, etc.), whether it was a blend or single-estate/single-leaf, what year it was for aged teas, and so on. For example, they had a first flush darjeeling, but where was it from? You would have to ask to figure it out.

As far as tea preparation goes, I tried 4 different teas (2 visits). On the first visit I tried the 'ancient maiden' puerh and the 'wu long' oolong. Both tasted great, but you only get one steeping (a large or small pot). They don't do multiple steepings, and they don't serve tea gongfu style (in yixing pots). That was disappointing. Still, these two teas tasted great.

On my second visit I tried the first flush darjeeling (again, I have no idea where it was from) and the 'earl grey with lavender' (mom's choice :). The darjeeling tasted a little overdone. I think maybe the water was too hot for a darjeeling. It had kind of a burnt/roasty taste you don't expect from a darjeeling. The earl grey was fine.

I also bought some loose leaf yunnan which I brewed myself at home. It's not quite as good as some other yunnan I've had, but it wasn't bad. Again, I don't know anything about the specific yunnan tea because they don't put that on the menu.

The atmosphere was relaxed and calm. It was a nice break from the galleria. The shop is small, but it was only moderately busy, and there was plenty of room. It was a bit difficult to get a hold of one of the workers, though. It seemed that they were nearly always busy talking to/helping other customers.

One interesting/unique aspect of this tea room was that they have you select your own cup from a shelf on the wall. That was kind of fun.

The prices seemed reasonable. They also sold some tea pots, cups, infusers, etc., and a few sweets which I did not try (no regular food, though). Overall it was a nice place. I would definitely go again and recommend it to others, though there is still some room for improvement.

I LOVED this place! I've been reading about this place and been dying to go, finally got to go last night. LOVED the whole ambience, the pomegranate rosehip tea was lovely, the desserts were too good, but my cousins became obsessed with the xylitol. They actually bought a pound of this stuff. Too funny! The gentlemen waiting on us were so polite and helpful and very informative. I wil definitely come back!

I have enjoyed this tearoom since it opened. Recently, though, I had the opportunity to take a guest from Japan to visit. She said it reminded her of home and was very authentic. Since then she has returned to take friends of hers. She is as enthused about it as me. Beyond that the experience is serene and calming. The little extras offered are yummy. I don't share it with everyone but the ones I have taken there are all fans.

This is our favorite local tea house. The atmosphere is not victorian or 'girly,' which is a nice incentive to bring the fellas along. If you are looking for teddy bears and roses, this isn't the place for you. The scones are excellent, and so are the cupcakes. However, it is their tea selection that truly makes this place great. The only caveat (and this may not even be a caveat if you are a true tea lover) is that the tea pots are not refilled with hot water. We are told the reason for this is to keep the taste of the tea consistent each and every time, and it does. This is a great place to be adventurous if you want to try new teas, as you aren't likely to be disappointed. We appreciate the modest atmosphere and frequent about 2-3 times a month.

I have visited The Path of Tea on several ocassions various times of the year. Each time has been an acceptional experience. The staff is highly accomodating. I have brought a variety of friends, family, and colleagues who have had diferent expectations, tastes and appetites. ALL were pleased and SATISFIED. When you go out you wish an experience of delight, peace, and a moment away from the every day hustle and bustle. Even while seated in a fully booked shop I could still hear my companion's conversations over good tea and treats with good service. I would not compare to another tea house. That would just remove it's individuality and uniqueness. If your looking for 'a chain' where everything is the same and service an assembly line then No The Path of Tea would not be for you.

I love the hot tea at The Path of Tea - they are all organic, but what I really love are the frozen tea smoothies. I have had the green matcha, the rooibos chai, and the pumpkin spice. They have a new flavor this year for the holidays called Red Hot Reindeer. I haven't had that one but will try it before it retires. These smoothies are like a meal. They have tea and protein powder and are made with soy milk. They are so healthy and sometimes I use them as a meal replacement. They don't taste healthy though. They taste sinfully delicious. If you have one with the cupcakes you can't get better!

With things being slow for our family and many others in the city, I checked places out on line before I drove all the way in to town to look for gifts. I found The Path of Tea on several business listing review sites.

I was looking for unique gifts that did not cost a fortune. They had gifts from $5 to $100. I ended up buying all my co-workers some cute little tins covered with Japanese paper. They were darling! I picked a different tea for each person. Then I bought a tea set for my sister. It was $48.00 and that included 4 cups. I have seen tea pots that looked like that one that cost more than double. I bought a book on cooking with tea for my daughter. I know she will love that.

The prices and selection were amazing. I will remember this place next year.

Oh, and they gave me a complimentary cup of tea and a cookie to enjoy while they filled my order.

All the people who worked there were cheerful and helpful. The customers were all happy as well.

      What a neat place!

Houston is a city that never seems to rest, but if you want to take a moment to relax and get a refreshing breath of air--there is no place that beats the Path of Tea.

The very second you step through the door, your body and mind find themselves at ease. The owners, Thia and Chris McKann have paid special attention to every detail to ensure that your visit there is an experience. The service is magnificent--everything you need is taken care of. They check in on you often enough to make sure you are not in want of anything, but never overdo it.

Everytime that I've been there to visit, I've seen an even balance of new customers and a healthy flow of regulars--a true sign that the service and product are top notch. All of the employees here are happy people, and you cannot help but catch their warmth when they greet you.

They serve only organic teas, and each one is rich with several layers of flavor!

The desserts that they serve at the pastry bar are also organic, and I have yet to try one that I didn't like. I would recommend the chai cookies, and my perosnal favorite, the ginger-apricot scone.

I thank Chris and Thia for giving me such a nice sanctuary to run to whenever I need it, and for all the wonderful tea and food that they serve.

I had a tea party for 15 twelve year olds yesterday at The Path of Tea. They loved it. The owner of the shop told the girls fun things about tea that were age appropriate. They also got to taste 5 different types of teas. They had a white elephant gift exchange after the tea tasting and cupcakes. It was the best Christmas party the girls have ever had.

We never had to ask for anything, the service was excellent.

The girls said the cupcakes were 'the bomb'.

I have been looking for a special Japanese green tea that I had in Japan. It is so good. It has cherry blossoms in it. I looked everywhere and even on-line. I saw the website of The Path of Tea and it was so comprehensive so I decided to call. They had the tea. Chris told me they were only one of two tea houses in the country that had that special tea. I also found some other teas I had not had outside of China. They knew what they were talking about and I know it because I have studied tea for 25 years. This place is the real thing.

I read an article about tea being good for your health. I know nothing about tea but how to drink it. I went on line and found this place. It had good reviews so I went in to see if I could find something to improve my health. The girl knew so much and suggested several things. I was there for about half an hour and learned more about tea than I had heard in my life. I am looking forward to getting more healthy. It really impressed me that they have only organic tea. I liked that shop and will go back.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and my husband and I have so much to be thankful for. I am very thankful that I found The Path of Tea last year. It has been my haven. It has kept me calm on the most stressful days. It has made me laugh when I need to be picked up. This place is so much more than a tea shop. It is a family of unrelated sweet spirits who have come together to love and support one another.

It embodies what tea is really about; harmony, purity, respect and tranquility. I have learned to make those things part of my life since I have been going there.

Others can write about the atmosphere and the quality of tea, but I wanted to tell everyone about the heart of this place.

It is comfort and joy and I am so thankful for it being there for me and so many others.

      Thank you!

I read an article in Tea In Texas magazine written by the owner of this shop. It was all about holiday memories and about the real gifts being 'in the heart and not the box'. The article touched me so much I had to come to this shop. It was such a lovely place. I have never been into a shop like this before. My only experience with tea shops was british style with brown betty pots and scones with clotted cream and jam.

I loved being able to go to the sniffing bar to smell the teas and to the tea cup wall where I could pick my own cup. That was really a nice touch.

I found some nice things for Christmas gifts as well. The prices were very reasonable.

I had a cake ball with my tea. Oh my, that was almost sinful! I have never had anything like that. It was delicious.

I want to go back for a tea tasting with some of my lady friends.

I think I made a new connection for myself.

Ms. McKann came to my school this week for a tea tasting. I have never been into tea and was a confirmed coffee drinker. We tasted 5 teas. They were all so good. She told us all about the teas and where they came from and how they are processed. It was a lot of fun. We each got a cupcake and cookie as well. They were really good. I went to the shop to see what else they had. It was great. I had two more teas and even got to have a page in the tea journal so I can list the teas I have tried. I still like coffee but think I might be drinking much more tea in the future. Who knew?

I have been coming to The Path of Tea for over two years. I came the first week they were open. This is MY place! They have only certified organic teas. When I first started going there they only had 50 teas, now they have 150. The desserts are wonderful and all have tea in them. This is my family of choice. I have met the most amazing people there. The shop is beautiful. They have the only sniffing bar in town (you can smell the teas before you order them). The tea pots are beautiful and they have the best selection in town, with the best prices as well. I have been to many of the classes they have on tea. I have learned so much. My health has improved as well as my stress levels. This is so important to me.

This shop has everything....great organic teas, healthy desserts, wonderful atmosphere and lots of fun and loving people. The staff knows more about tea than anyone in town. You have to check it out!

I wish there was a higher rating for this shop. Variety - over 120 organic only teas. I have never heard of so many of these teas. The lady told me so many things about tea and how it is produced. They have delicious pastries...the lemon curd cupcakes are to live for! As for artistry...WOW...my tea came in a beautiful glass teapot with a candle warming it. It was gorgeous to say the least. It glowed. I watched them make my tea...they had some fancy computerized pots that could have the temperature set for perfect brewing. I was allowed to pick my own cup from a great selection of special cups. They told me some of them were from Japan and once they opened when customers would travel to special places sometimes they would bring cups to add to the collection. They had some from Morroco, China, and Russia. That was such a nice touch.

This shop is very Asian looking. They have a huge selection of ceramic teapots and some cast iron Japanese pots as well. It is decorated tastefully and it is obvious that much care was given to the decor. There is a fountain and mellow Asian music in the background. The only other place I have ever seen like this is in Japan.

I watched people hurry in...take a deep breath...sniff some tea at the sniffing bar...and relax right before my eyes....just like I did.

This is more than tea! This is lifestyle!

If you are truly concerned with quality and health benefits of tea the Path of Tea is the place to go. All of their teas are organic..that makes a huge taste difference. If you have never had organic teas you just have to come and try this place. They do not have lower grade teas...all premium grade teas. If you cant taste the difference in the quality you don't know about teas! One of the other things I love about it is that they are not a restaurant...they are a true tea shop. Also they use very special water here...no tap water. Also I am very interested in atmosphere. Things are different when you start adding food. I too have been to some of the other tea rooms in town and English style is not my cup of tea. You can read all the reviews in the world, and I hope this one helps but try it for yourself. You will see a huge difference with organic tea if you are a REAL tea lover. Starbucks...even the mention of them shows not a real sophisticated tea drinker. This place is like my second home. I love the teas...I love the people who come here...I love what The Path of Tea is all about. Come try it for yourself and make up your own mind.

The Path of Tea has been my destination for more than just the most amazing teas I've ever tasted, it is a place where I can unwind and recharge because of it's peaceful friendly atmosphere. They have a Rooibos Blueberry tea that I have every time I'm there, which is often, and it's the best I've ever had. After just one cup of tea I have a continuous level of energy throughout the day. The service is superior. It is also like a zen place where you can sit down and catch up with your own self.

Beutiful shop, excellent attitudes, and bottom line...INCREDIBLE Teas. Thea and Chris really have it down with teas for any need. I'm very picky about my Earl Greys and theirs is the first one which has truly impressed me. If you're ever in Houston, The Path Of Tea should be one of your first stops, especially if you want a nice peaceful environment in which to drink and relax. Bottom line...It's an excellent Path to go down.

I have a friend who goes to The Path of Tea all the time. She had some teas they made just for her.

I was having trouble sleeping and my friend told me to go see Thia...she was sure she could do something. She made a sleepy tea for me. I had been on sleeping pills for a month. After three nights of taking the tea I did not need it or my sleeping pills. She made this blend for me while I waited.

I heard another person come in who was having a sore throat...Thia made a tea just for him. He said his throat felt better by the time he finished his tea.

This is more than a tea shop. If you have trouble sleeping just go there and they can help you.

The Path of Tea is my community tea shop. I know that even if I’ve had a hectic day, the stress will drop away when I walk in the door. Thia and Chris could not have more beautiful souls, and they love all of their customers like old friends. Thia’s heartfelt love of tea has caused her to develop an extensive knowledge of every aspect of it. She is constantly gathering new information, and trying new teas and innovative ways of preparing and blending them. I have never met anyone with such a breadth of knowledge on the subject, and she is a delight to listen to. Beware though – your old tea bags at home will not survive once you start drinking real organic tea at the path. There is just no comparison. For wonderful tea and fabulous people, the Path of Tea is the place to go.

I attended a tea tasting a couple of evenings ago and I learned so many things I did not know about tea. We tasted 6 different teas and had desserts that matched them. My previous tea experience had been so limited. I thought I knew alot about tea but I really didn't know much.

The class was informative, fun, and I really loved meeting the other participants. The questions they asked were so interesting. Thia really knows alot about tea.

I signed up to receive notices about future classes. She said we could even do a blending class. I can't wait to do that one.

I love the atmosphere at The Path of Tea. I used to go to another tea shop alot but since I found this place I won't be going back to the other shop. I feel like they really care that I come in. I like all the other people I have met as well.

I found this place by mistake but it is no mistake that I am going back over and over.

Thank you Thia for such a nice tea tasting. It was great. The tea tastes awsome too.

One of the things I liked about this tea shop was that any of the teas they have in the extensive list could be served to me hot or cold. If you like frozen teas they have some very tasty ones. I like the frozen chai...it is so refreshing on a hot Houston day!

I also like the fact that I can order a full meal next door at The Field of Greens and they will deliver it to me at The Path. What a great concept of co-operation....I wish more establishments did that. After my meal I have one of the lemon cupcakes....I have never tasted anything so good.

There is nothing in Houston, or Texas for that matter, like The Path. Great selection of teas, great sweets, great staff, and great people who go there. It is my new family of choice. There aren't enough good things I can say about the place.

There's a large selection of teas, including whites, organic, greens, chais, etc. I believe there's nearly 100 different flavors. Only hot tea, though, no iced tea.

There really isn't too much food offered, just a small selection of pastries.

The tea preparation all occurs behind the counter, so you don't see too much of what's going on. But you get to choose your own cup from a shelf (there are a bunch of different styles), and your brewed tea is brought out to you in a pretty nice looking container, and the first glass is poured for you (but you pour the rest yourself).

The people there have always been nice the 3 or 4 times I've gone.

The atmosphere is pretty quiet, so that's kind of nice. It's not a noisy place.

Very helpful staff! I needed to find a birthday gift for my mother quick, and the woman behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, explaining how their teas work and the teapots they had for sale. I love their tea 'bar', where you can look at and smell the different teas before ordering. The atmosphere is calm and quiet, very inviting and perfect for an afternoon of tea and a good book. I will definately visit again!

I love the Path of Teas. The atmosphere is quite and serene and your attitudes become calm the moment you step in the door. The owners Chris and Thia are the best host and hostess I have ever seen in any establishment serving people. They serve loose tea and desserts and have a tea sniff bar of 100 + variety that lets you choose a different tea blend at every visit to suit your mood. They are knowlegeable about tea and they partner up with the Field of Greens restaurant next door so you can have your food order served at the Path of teas. I take all my friends and dates to experience the pleasure of teas. They have this wall of different tea cups and a bowl of rocks with words of meditations that you get to choose from to fit your mood and spirit. This is by far the best tearoom in town.

I came in last week with a group of friends for a tea tasting. We had 5 different types of tea; a white, green, oolong, black and rooibos. We learned all about how and where tea is grown, how it is processed and how to taste it. We learned things to do at home to make good tea. I never knew many of the things we learned. It was so much fun and so informative. We had treats that were paired with each tea...just like a wine tasting. The best part was when it came time to pay we knew it would be around $20.00 per person...but...surprise...it was about $5.00 per person. All that value for an hour of Thia's time and all that delicious organic tea! What a bargain. She did not charge anything for her time...just the tea and sweets.

I will be a loyal and regular customer of The Path of Tea because of my experience. I have visited many of the tea rooms in Houston and believe me there is nothing else like the Path of Tea. It is beautiful, peaceful, fun and full of nice people.

Thank you Thia for your time and patience. I had a wonderful time. I have been thinking about other friends I can bring in for a tasting!

I went to The Path for the first time recently...it was awsome! I had heard about it from several people but none of the comments did it justice. I felt so welcome and so taken care of. They had so many teas I had never heard of. They have a sniffing bar so I was able to smell the teas. The table next to me was having a tea tasting so I listened and learned so much about tea. I told them my name once and they remembered it when I left. I felt like a friend..not a guest. I am telling everyone I meet to go there. I have never been to any tea shop that was so wonderful. You have to see it to believe it. I'm going back today!

The cordially of Chris and Thia and the ambience of the room combine to make for a most pleasing visit. We spent our afternoon here and really did not want to leave. This is an experience that more people should enjoy and I for one hope they will. I know I will be back again.

You can tell that there has been a lot of love put into The Path of Tea. It shows from the moment you walk into the doors to the moment your tea is served. The owners Thia and Chris really have something special here. I know so from experiencing many tea houses across the United States and Vancouver. Their customer service is excellent. They really make you feel like family. In fact they make it a point to know their customers. It’s kind of like tea’s own version of “Cheers” where everybody knows your name. If they don’t know your name, trust me they will. The people you meet here are wonderful.

Chris and Thia really know their teas; all one hunderd plus which can be made hot or cold. Many other tea houses may claim a great selection of teas, but what I’ve found is that the product knowledge really was lacking in the staff of these other tea houses. If you ask Chris or Thia any question about teas they’ll have the right answer for you. The Path of Tea has a great presence within the communty. If you’re hungry you can easily order from the vegetarian restaurant next door which will deliver the food to your table at The Path of Tea. By far The Path of Tea is the best tea house I’ve gone to.

The Path of Tea is my second home. I have been to numerous tea houses and bars in various cities and this place has the best selection and atmosphere by far. The Path of Tea has the largest selection of organic teas I've ever encountered, and once you have them you'll never go back to regular tea. Chris and Thia have really gone above and beyond in making sure that the quality of their shop is top notch and everything at the Path is made with good ol' LOVE!!! Whether you're reading a book or chatting with friends, being here is so wonderful for the soul.

Try the White Peach with a Heaven Bar (divine!) or the Monk's Blend with the Short Bread - you can't go wrong!!

So many teas, so little time. A collection of over 100 (and growing) organic free-trade teas to choose from. From the moment you walk in the door the owners, Thia and Chris, make you feel like you've been invited into their home. They'll answer any questions you have, the service is attentive, the treats are delicious (and organic), and the atmosphere is a combination of peaceful and fun at the same time. This is a great place if you want to meet new friends, laugh a lot, and have endless discussions on any topic that happens to pop up. By the same token, if you need a little quiet oasis to drink tea and read a book, you can find it at The Path of Tea.
