The Sweetgum Tree
Located in the backrooms of the Historic Thomas Mercantile, est. 1913, The Sweetgum Tree was opened to give our customers a chance to shop, have tea and eat lunch. A little off the beaten path, we are four miles north of town on a gravel road, in the woods by the railroad tracks which makes for a relaxing and enjoyable day. No hurry in and hurry out here! Enjoy being served in four generations of antique family china and crystal. Our tea selection comes from Ahmad Teas, a British tea company. We carry a selection of classic black teas, including Ceylon. English Breakfast. Darjeeling. Earl Grey. English No. 1. and, Evening Decaffeinated. Our green teas include Mint Mystique. Lemon Vitality. Green Tea Pure. Raspberry and Pomegranate. Jasmine Romance. and, Blueberry Brilliance. We also carry a selection of six herbal infused teas, including Mixed Citrus.
Rosehip, Hibiscus and Cherry. Rooibos and Cinnamon., Chamomile and Lemongrass. Mixed Berries and Hibiscus. and, Peppermint and Lemon. Six of our teas are infused with fruit pieces. Our house cold tea is Peach Passion Fruit, which can also be served hot. We make everything homemade, including, soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. Come have tea with us! Stay for lunch!
