The English Rose Tea Room and Gifts
My mother & I enjoy visiting different tea rooms, this one was recommended to me recently, both of us were very disappointed. We arrived on time for our reservation at 11am as we drove up the gal was just putting out their sign, I figured good we can go right in. As I walked my 81yr old mother to the front door to enter we were surprised that the gal had relocked the door and made us wait out side for about 8min. before she return to unlock the door. We were seated and our server came to take our order. She was very nice, told us about their new sparkling white tea which at the time made no mention of an extra charge so we were under the impression you could have this instead of the pot of tea, I elected to have this it was very good but I was surprised to find a $5 charge on the bill, it would have been nice to have known before hand, although I would have had it anyway but it was annoying. Next I had to ask for clean cups both of our cups had tea remains from the previous patron, that was very unpleasant. The decor was cute, the service was just ok not very friendly (although there and a young gal who seem to perk up the place serving another table with a very cheerful attitude). The food was average nothing overly exciting. I have to admit with our experience today I am surprised that this tea room is rated #1 out of the #299 listed. We had just frequented the August Tea Room in Livermore & Numi in Oakland and there is no comparison! They were both a much better experience. Overall we will not return to The English Rose Tea Room nor recommend it. Sorry just didn't feel we got our monies worth compared to other tea rooms we've been to and truly enjoyed
