We recently made a visit to this tea room. We have been there several times in the past. Although the food is always delicious, I must agree with the last reviewer that the service is terrible. We've experienced this during our last two visits, when the small tea room was fully booked. The two waitresses are really what needs to change at this tearoom. They are cordial enough, but show absolutely no warmth whatsover. They didn't even welcome us when we came in the door. They basically bring you the menu, take your order, and that is it. I will say that there were several very specific details of our visit that were bothersome. First, service is very slow. We were left waiting for a very long time. When the server brought the water to the table, she did not even pour it into our glasses. The same thing with the tea. We poured our own tea. This has never been the case at any other tearoom we have visited. Next, after we were finished with our soup, no one ever came to take our dirty soup cups. Even when they brought our tray of food, they still left our dirty soup cups in front of us. We had to set them aside ourselves, and they remained on our table throughout our tea experience. When the tray of food came, the waitress said that she forgot the cream for our scones. The scones are served warm, and are delicious when you are able to eat them warm. Unfortunately we did not get to experience eating them warm, because 20 minutes elapsed before we were ever brought our cream. We had literally eaten all of our sandwiches, AND dessert, before our waitress finally came back with the cream - after two requests for the cream. This is truly unacceptable. Perhaps they can just make sure they add a cup of the cream onto the tray, as a rule, so that the servers do not forget, since it's obvioulsy an issue. When you go to a tea room, it is just as much about the ambiance and overall experience, as it is about the quality of the food. This is what the owner needs to focus on and change. Tea upon Chatsworth has excellent food, but because of the overall service experience, you don't leave with a feeling of anticipation to come back. I still recommend that you try this tearoom, as the owner, Joy, is absolutely wonderful, and she takes much pride in the food that she prepares. It would be nice if she could teach others how to prepare her delicous savories, so that she could be hostessing / serving her clientele. Or, she needs to find other servers, who are genuine, kind, warm, and who pride themselves on exceptional customer service. As it is right now, this is not the case. Go to tea upon chatsworth for the food and tea....you will not be disappointed. And hopefully when you do, the service will have greatly improved.
