The English Rose Tea Room and Gifts
After booking a small bridal shower, I was barely allowed to enter the tea room 5 minutes early in order to place the favors and place cards on our table! I had to drag my bags and cart around the corner, through a patio and in the side door! We were served our tea right away, but the food wasn't served until 40 minutes after our reservation time, and then (after being given 'the look' several times by the staff) we were asked to 'hurry up' with the opening of gifts because they had to have our table for other reservations! After speaking to the owner/manager, we were allowed to finish our party. There were only two ladies who entered the tea room before we left...what happened to those 'other reservations?' The food was adequate, teas were nice, but we were crammed into a corner where two small round tables were pushed together, and the service was extremely poor. Even though this tea room is lovely to look at through the windows, it is lacking in atmosphere, comfort, and service. My most recent tea experience was a baby shower at August Tea Room in Livermore, where we were treated like royalty in a very comfortable, lovely atmosphere. What a difference! It takes more than tea to make a tea room experience pleasant.

Lety is the most gracious hostess! I just gave a baby shower at August Tea Room, and it couldn't have been better! In the elegant yet comfortable atmosphere, Lety and her staff treated us like royalty, serving 3 wonderful teas, homemade cookies, then Asparagus Soup, followed by tiered plates of delicious treats including a good variety of the freshest sandwiches, scones, shortbread, macaroons, truffles and beautiful fresh cherries. Every guest commented on how this was absolutely the BEST Tea Room experience they had ever had. I couldn't agree more! All the 'extras' provided by Lety: gorgeous favors, exquisite custom cake, balloon bouquets, boa and hat....it was simply a wonderful event. THANK YOU to Lety and Kate!
