  • Whimsical Teas Tea Room

In response to the ‘Tearoom Response’ to Joyce & Family, I hesitated to write anything because you (I presume I’m talking to the hostess) seemed like a nice, pleasant lady. The first few words of your response say that you are sorry, but every word after that is finger pointing and excuses. In fact, the only reason I’m writing is because of your insulting response. I’ve never left a bad review; I’ve always chalked it up to “everyone’s entitled to a bad day.” My very active 2 & 5 year olds don’t lose their appetite over a late afternoon train ride, in fact, just the opposite. Although they did drink their lemonade and chocolate milk, don’t presume to think they ate their scones – they would not eat them. And, if my kids were picky about food, we wouldn’t have come. About the hard bread, it’s unacceptable to serve hard or stale bread in a tearoom – people go to a tearoom to have ‘perfect’ tea sandwiches with perfectly cut edges, both of which were not served here. Hard bread because of no preservatives is not an acceptable answer – it doesn’t make eating hard bread more pleasant knowing there is no preservatives. You didn’t defend the lack of peanut butter on the peanut butter sandwich, so I won’t say anything more about that. About the credit card – you refer to other businesses that keep a copy of the credit card receipt as if to suggest what you asked us to do is the same thing. The fact of the matter is, it’s unprofessional and concerning to have a customer hand write their credit card number down on a piece of paper. It leaves you with the thought that the paper will be disposed of (or not) with the same unprofessionalism as handwriting your own credit card number. Indeed, we (especially my girls) left hungry. You’ve invited us back for “tea on us,” but after making it clear that the only error you made was not offering us “tea for tasting,” I’m certain we won’t be back.
