The Royal Tea Room & Restaurant
My friends and I visited the Royal Tea Room today. We had learned about it from a very favorable article in The Washington Post. The food was absolutely fantastic! Everything was beautifully presented, delicious, and fresh. We had the 'royal tea' which included soup, salad, scone (delicious cranberry scones), tea sandwiches (four varieties for each of us), four savories for each of us, and four sweets for each of us. The variety of teas was not as large as it might have been because it had been a very busy day for them, but still we enjoyed the teas that we had. Prior to having our tea, we browsed through the rooms that they have devoted to antiques and collectibles for sale - that was fun. The place is beautifully restored - you can tell that the owner has put a lot of hard work and love into it. We spent a leisurely 3 hours lingering over our tea, and were not rushed to leave even though the place was busy. Also, we complimented the chef at the end of the day.
