The Roswell Teahouse
Drove to Roswell for Afternoon Tea at the appointed time, was seated quickly and service was good. Teahouse was simplier in decoration than I anticipated given the era of the venue, almost stark fresh rather than cosy. The tea experience was ok for a local teahouse; did not feel relaxing though - almost as if it was just another meal rather than an afternoon relaxing tea experience. The sandwiches were tasty but minimal. The desserts were good. The scones though I had an issue with, they were more like small muffins with less sugar rather than true scones. The 'scones' were served with only lemon curd. When asked if strawberry jam was available the answer was 'no, we don't have that, just the lemon curd'. Who, serves afternoon tea, without real scones, strawberry jam & lemon curd with clotted devonshire cream? I have never been to a teahouse, here in the States or in the UK and not been served real scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream. I should have read the website menu just a little better. Overpriced for what we got. I will not go back.
