  • A Southern Cup Fine Teas

Excellent tea room in a quiet, small house with tea decorations and appointments. The owner is knowledgeable and has excellent taste in tea blends and serves a fine afternoon tea of the best chicken salad I have ever tasted, an egg salad and a cucumber sandwich, fresh warm scones with three toppings, and macaroons and petite desserts. Love the china selections and fresh flowers on the tables.

Situated on the second floor of the Heights Flower Shoppe, the Victorian House Cafe offers a quiet time in their 1880 Victorian motif tea rooms. There are 3 separate rooms to accomodate a single customer to a large party with decorations and gifts of the period around and on the tables. My wife and I visited today and were met by Ray, the owner, who seated us in a beautiful room with classical music playing gently in the background. The menu varies from a Pot of Tea, Cream Tea, Light Tea, Afternoon Tea, Tea Sampler and Royal Tea. We chose the Royal Tea and enjoyed freshly baked warm scones with clotted cream, lemon curd and rasberry jam, followed by a nice hand made tomato bisque soup. There was a 'Vermonter' sandwich of turkey and cheddar, an egg salad on flat bread rollup, and a hummus with nuts. Desserts followed with a lemon square, pumpkin cheesecake in a trifle, and a chocolate mousse. The tea was hot and abundant, served in various floral pots to complement the plates and cups and the service was attentive. I complimented the mousse and Ray brought me seconds! This is a place we will definitely be visiting over and over again.
