My tea experience this afternoon was nothing short of perfect. The setting in a small cottage was beautiful and not the least bit cutesy. Although I was alone, Cynthia went out of her way to make sure that my teapot was full and whether or not I needed anything else. She is an English lady and knows what afternoon teas are all about. As for the food and the tea, both were excellent. My tea was brewed properly not the weak brew you often get. The sandwiches were made with excellent quality of bread (I received three different fillings for the high tea) and the fillings were delicious. Even with something as simple as a cucumber with dill sandwich, Cynthia made it better than any other place I have visited. As for the desserts, I especially loved the tiny lemon curd tart in a filo shell. Brought the chocolate dipped shortbread cookies as I was pretty full. Cynthia's also serves lunch 11:30-2:30. Do not know if she is open 7 days a week or has some days off. She also has a lunch menu. Might opt to try her quiche lorraine next time.It is best to call first to make a reservation. For high teas, they are by reservation only. The small gift area has some very pretty teapots, cups, jewelry, handmade crocheted tea cozies (made by Cynthia) and other items. High tea prices are currently $22 which is a normal. Parking is on the street but is easy to find. Cynthia does not accept credit or debit cards. It is a wonderful tea shop and I will certainly return.
