I arranged a small 'ladies' birthday party for my adult daughter on Saturday, 12/13/08. I was told the tea room would be open at 11 am Saturday morning...(they had previously told me on the phone they were open at 10 am) I was also told there would be another group at the tea room Saturday at 11 am. Robby, a nice gentleman (chef), asked if we were ordering from the menu on Saturday...I said yes. He said they would be able to handle our group along with the other group. On Saturday, I arrived at 11 am. with my daughter. Two people from our group were already seated; they arrived at 10:45 am. (Tea room help arrived at 11 am also) Three or four people from the other group were seated. By 11:20 am all of our group had arrived, and by ll:45 - 12 noon our group had placed our orders. Three of our group ordered High Tea..the rest ordered sandwiches (one with soup). Our food started arriving 'piecemeal',(two or three orders, wait 10-15 min., then one or two meals, etc.) at 1:30 pm. We waited at least 1 1/2 hours for our orders. It was embarassing and disgraceful! One of our party has a 2 yr old and the server did bring jello, tea set, to pacify her. I have never waited so long for a meal and I'm sure no one else had either! The sandwiches were tasty as were the scones; but, the soup was 'canned' minestrone and biscuits were not served with the high tea meals as the menu stated. In conclusion, I will not recommend this tea room to friends and family. The Tea Room obviously took on more than they could handle with two groups. The other group had arranged for their party first and the owner and Robby should have told me they would not be able to handle both groups.
