  • Tana's Tea Room (Tea a la Tana) and Shabby Chic Bo

My recent visit to Tanalee's Tea and Sympathy was both enlightening and enchanting. My friend and I came to Bastrop to spend an afternoon away from Austin. We found the tea room while looking at antique stores. As a recent convert from coffee to tea, I found Tana (the owner) to be educational and well-informed as she recommended teas I might enjoy. She allowed me to see and smell the various teas. Tea and Sympathy has a blend of various fruit teas as their 'house' tea and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The whimsical decor made our visit all the more fun. Everywhere I turned, there was something fun to look at and a story behind every object. Some men may be intimidated in thinking a tea room is for women only. I personally enjoy the old world charm of getting away from technology and enjoying quiet time. After enjoying the lunch special which was either croissants or finger sandwiches with a delicious fruit salad and scone (I had the chicken salad croissants and plan to go back for the Afternoon Tea), We spent time visiting with the owner and another customer on the front porch. We were offered a cup of tea to go which I thought was a nice gesture. When friends or family visit Austin I plan to bring them to Bastrop for tea.

Thanks Nick for being willing to try some new teas and earn your trust :)

It is always a delight to visit with a guest about anything Tea related - and to spend time getting better acquainted. Hope to see you again when your plans bring you back to Bastrop.
