The Pleasanton Hotel
My girfriend and I just returned from visiting The Plesanton Hotel. This is the 4th tea room I have been to for high tea, and I have yet to decide if I will return again or not. The building is beautiful, but the room decor was a bit on the light side. The tea selection was disapointingly limited and we were given white coffe cups and saucers. (Colored tea cups and saucers would go a long way.) The menu stated that we would receive 'devon style' cream, but none ever came. I also had to ask for cream for our tea. The food was very plentiful however and we got more then I usualy get at other tea houses for about the same price. We received a scone, 4 finger sandwiches (the chicken and grapes was amazing), some bannana nut bread, and 7 or 8 deserts. The food was very fresh but it was a bit overkill on the deserts. I agree with the previous poster that a some savories would be nice. However if you can't get enough chocolate, this may be the place for you. Not my favorite, but not too bad either.
