“What kind of tea would you like today?” Well, isn’t that a loaded question. The variety of tea at English Rose Tea Room is abundant. And it’s one of the many reasons I wholeheartedly love this place. Black, oolong, green, white, flavored, and herbal & fruit infusion – your choice is plentiful. And I’d be remiss to forget the seasonal teas. You can mix & match your pot of teas, which is great because a lot of tea rooms make you stick to just one pot per person. Luckily they sell the teas, so you can go home with a bag (or two) of your favorite loose leaf tea. There are three different menus: Lady Lavender’s Elegant Cream Tea [scones & tea], The Duchess Anne’s Delightful Tea [tea sammiches, scones, fresh fruit, tea], and the ultimate experience – and by far the best – The Queen’s Sumptuous Afternoon Tea [tea sammiches, petit fours, scones, fresh fruit, variety of sweets, tea]. The Queen’s tea is the only menu served on the weekends, and the only one I’ve tried. There’s also a children’s menu, the presence of which I find quite endearing. I visit the tea room several times a year. And every time, we never leave disappointed. Their teas are always brewed perfectly and all of their food is delicious and homemade. Their scones are to die for. Oh, those scones! Perfectly baked and served with clotted cream, lemon curd and strawberry preserves. Absolute perfection. The whole room is lit up and wonderfully decorated. The tables, chairs, and pillows are charming and the whole place makes you feel cozy and darling. Lisa and her staff are so warm and friendly. Very accommodating and always make us feel at home. There are events going on every month or so, and they even offer children’s etiquette classes. I love the experience of Tea Time. And English Rose is my go-to place when I feel like a cup o’ tea. People often get dressed up, in cocktail dresses and tea hats. Over the years, I’m constantly amazed at the people and events that frequent this place. Friends reacquainting, moms & daughters laughing, grandmothers recounting stories of their youth, a group of ladies gathering for a friend’s bachelorette, the list goes on.. The English Rose is an adorable and charming tea room. Warm your belly AND your heart in just one visit. I'm a fan of two-fers.. ;-)
