Tea Cozy
I was so excited to visit this tea room, but was so disappointed. The service was the major turn-off My wife and I were walk-ins, but they didn't appear to be very busy. There were several empty tables, but we were still asked to wait. It took about 10 minutes. When we were seated, we waited for about 5 minutes before anyone came to our table. Our waitress was new, and didn't appear to know anything about tea or the menu. The owner was not friendly at all. The food was good. The sandwiches were delicious. The scones were ok, kind of more biscuit-y than like real cream scones. The dessert was a dissappointment, as it looked and tasted store-bought. We also did not know that the tea was brewed with leaves in pot, so the last few cups were VERY strong and acidic. I didn't see any mention of this on the menu. The atmosphere was pleasant and the setting in the old house could have a lot going for this shop. All in all, it was a disappointing visit. There are other tea shops I would go to over The Tea Cozy. If you are in the San Luis Obispo area, J. Henry Manor is quite nice; and in the Solvang/Buellton/Lompoc area, Penelope's Teas & Gifts is 100% better in all aspects.
