The Butterfly Tea Room
We ventured upon this 'diamond in the rough' of a tearoom after being snubbed by the other tearoom in Cape May, NJ. Our visit to the Butterfly Tearoom was the highlight of our day! The owner was so pleasant on the phone and even more charming in person. The service was a bit slow, however our server was very sweet and just had a slower pace than we are accustomed to - no worries, we were on vacation and actually enjoyed the change in pace. My initial goal was to treat my mother and my 6 year-old daughter to a 'girly' day out in Cape May and the Butterfly Tearoom was our icing on the cake. We will be visiting there each year during our Cape May visit and highly recommend this place. The food was also very good and we left feeling fully satisfied, not stuffed. A nice assortment of finger sandwiches and pastries. The soup of the day, cold Strawberry Soup, was delicious and refreshing. My daughter loved her plate when it came out! A butterfly crystal plate loaded with tasty treats and a cream cheese and jelly 'butterfly' sandwich. Tea pots were beautiful and our tea cups were fine bone china. Had the Cherry Blossom tea and it needed no sweetening. My daughter loved having her own teapot and refilled three times! The whole place was clean and smelled delightful. The bathroom was also very nice (clean and pretty). Thank you for a wonderful experience. We look forward to next year's annual visit.
