March 1, 2008, I attended a Pot of Gold's Lucky Leprechaun's Magical Shamrock, Lemon Balm and Lime St. Patrick's Day Tea. We began with refreshihg water filled with lemon slices, lime slices, lemon balm, oranges, pineapple, and mint leaves. Our tea was Irish Breakfast Blend of black tea infused with lemons, lemon balm, and if you were lucky, magical shamrocks to wish on. My favorite sandwich was the tiny corned beef on oatmeal bread with key lime mustard. The hearty cheese dip with crackers and fresh vegetables (carrot coins) was scrumptious. The warm lemon & lime poppyseed scone, served with Devonshire cream and lime curd was heaven! Desserts were outstanding: from a solid chocolate pot dusted with edible gold and a lucky shamrock, to carrot pineapple lime cake with other delicacies in between. Again, another lovely, relaxing tea, with excellent service and incredible food. Our hats are off to Judy and staff!

My sister and I ventured to Hartland, a little hamlet NW of Detroit. Nancy met us at the door and showed us to our table which was adorned with antique linens. Situated in the middle of the table was a dessert platter which made a great visual of the good food to come, which enhanced our appetite. A wide variety of desserts were displayed, one more delicious-looking than the other. The tea sandwiches were egg salad, pineapplie with cream cheese and pecans spread on date bread, and a a tiny orange muffin which held turkey and cranberry sauce. The chicken salad had cranberries and apples in it and the omnipresent cucumer sandwiches rounded out the selection. You could tell everything was freshly made, as you had to call 24 hours in advance to have tea. Truly delicious they all were. Lunch is also available and that consists of quiche, soups, and desserts which looked scrumptious as they made their way to nearby tables. The warm scone was chock full of blueberries, and was served with Devon Cream and lemon curd. We were in scone heaven! Tea choices were abundant; served was loose leaf tea in individual pots. The tea was decanted, much to our happiness. Judy, the owner, came to say hello to us and remembered my sister Marian, who had only been to tea a few times there before. I was much impresesed with the Tyme Well Spent Tea Room and Gift Shoppe. The gift shoppe is not to be missed, located on the second floor. Marian purchased an French antique cut tablecloth and napkins in pristine condition. All in all, my sister and I had a delightful time with delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, and definitely, Tyme Well Spent!
