I am saddened to learn of the clsoing of Katherine's. Each and every visit was a most pleasant and enjoyable experience. In fact Katherine's was a fail safe place to go regardless the company. The tea choices were always pleasant. The sandwiches, soups, salads all superior. And the atmosphere was always welcoming.

Oh my God! I have been to Katherine's about four times - once with my husband, once with my husband and my 3 year old daughter and infant son, once with my husband and son, and one very memorable time in 12/06 when I went with two girlfriends while VERY pregnant. We loved it! I know Katherine's is now closed - my same two friends and I wanted to go for tea this Saturday (THEY are both very pregnant this time!) We were devastated when we heard you had closed, Katherine. Not only has the food been great, but we loved the room itself. Yes, the strip mall it is in has seen better days (But where else can you get your nails done, get a new tattoo and then take tea!) but the inside was that much better - like a hidden treasure. I am amazed at the vitriolic comments I have read here. What is your agenda people? Personal vendetta? Katherine, we are sorry you are closed and can only hope all is well with you. We will miss you!

The tea room in my opinion is weak. The tea selection is fine and so so is the food but the service is terrible. I have been there 3 times because it's not fair to judge a place by one visit and I definitely had my last. In all three times that I've been there the food quality got worse like if it was rushed in the kitchen and is sloppy. I really feel like a waisted my money all 3 times and I would not refer this place to anyone.Do not feel too bad Katherine. My job is write articles on small businesses, restaurants and tea rooms such as yourselves and I do grade pretty hard. Good luck!

Ms. Swansine,
I have checked your idenity thoughout the internet as well as contacted noted persons in the world of Tea. I have found no public records of your existence nor any papers, articles or publications written by you.
Therefore, I must conclude that your are merely a person with nothing better to do then waste your time as well as mine.

In response to kaitlin....you should not 'waist' your time being mean on this board. Please 'helf' yourself and learn to use spell check and a dictionary. Oh...and Katherine's has been there for 2 years!

I recently became aware of Katherine's Tea Room and I love it. The atmosphere is relaxing and charming. You are made to feel like a welcome guest by the serrvers and especially Katherine herself. And what would a great tea room be without a vast selection of wonderful teas and delicious foods and goodies. I believe there are over 40 different types of hot/iced teas to choose from and I have to agree with Vicki (review below) the flourless chocolate cake and chicken salad are divine! This is truly a special place.

PLEASE HELF YOURSELF AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! The waitresses had no class, the food tasted OLD, and most important of all the place was sooo trashy looking. Big waist of money and the place is definitely over priced. The business wont be there too long DONT WAIST YOUR TIME.

I am always looking for ways to create memories. Last Saturday I brought my mom (92) and my three daughters (33, 26, 21) to Katherine's for lunch. It was delightful! We each selected a pretty hat to wear while we sipped our tea and enjoyed our delicious tea sandwiches and scones served by the lovely Shannon. We have priceless, smiling pictures to remind us of this special time we shared together. Thank you, Katherine, for your lovely tea room helped us create a precious memory we can cherish forever.

Dear Peggy and Family,
Thank you for your lovely comments. I remember your Mom and her cute little black pill box hat. It's wonderful that you still have precious time to spend with her and your girls. Keep on making lots of memories together. I hope that will include many more visits to my Tearoom. Thanks again, Katherine

What a Sh*thole this place was, the the decor was cheesy and the whole place seemed unclean. The food tasted like it was made in the morning and sat all day, the desserts seemed like they came from Sam's club. I can only assume the reviews are family and friends.

On July 27th I visited Katherine's Tea room with my eldest daughter who is 24years old. Not knowing what to expect I was pleasantly surprised! We were greeted by Katherine herself at the door, what a delightful woman, friendly and sweet, she took us behind the curtain and it was as if we were going back in time. As we were seated we I admired the enchanting decor then listened intently as the waitress gave us a rundown off their variety of teas as well as their specials. Our tea as well as our food were served promptly and courteously and in all it was a quite delightful experience

While the outside of the building is nothing to look at, the inside is different. When you go thru those curtains, it is an enchanting room. The hostess is very friendly, the music VERY relaxing! The food was very good. I loved the teapot that my tea came in. The desert--OUTSTANDING! It was a refreshing break in the day.

Katherine and her staff provide diners with a sophisticated, elegant, and relaxing environment for lunch, tea, or just dessert! The food is excellent - definitely on par with gourmet quality. The decor is very sweet with lots of antiques and witty artwork. This is a fine location for a relaxing luncheon or catered event.

I have lived in the Ledgewood area most of my life & have never had a meal where so much care & attention was placed upon my dining experience 'as a whole'. I was so impressed by the service & food at Katherine's that I had my daughter's baby shower there! Everyone had positive comments-an amazing feat given it was a group of chatty women! The food is exquisite....Tracy, the head chef, has a flare w/food that must be experienced. Kudos to her flourless chocolate cake & chicken salad!

I have just arrived home after another fantastic experience at Katherine's.(I have been there at least 8 times.) This is my special place to go to share a cup of tea with a important friend.(This time with my boss!) I have never been disappointed except when Katherine was in the hospital and was not there to greet us with her very warm hospitality. However her daughter, Tracy, filled in with the same warmth as her mother.I have never been let down by the food. It is always fresh, and well prepared with a lovely presentation. Living in the metro area it is often difficult to find a place with what I would call 'Southern hospitality', but you will find it at Katherine's. Don't be turned off by the strip mall store front appearance. Once inside it is warm and cozy with many antique items to lo... (more)ok at. Relaxing and pleasurable!I have been here for many different events and they are all done well and in excellent taste. I have also been to many tea rooms around the state and also in Victoria, BC. Katherine's is my favorite. Reasonable, and you will not come away hungry as I have often experienced elsewhere. TRY IT SOON! Gift shop prices are low and it is THE place to pick up a little gift.

I have had the pleasure to sit and enjoy the tea service and lunch with my daughter as well as with my daughters GS Troop, and also some of the fun events that Katherine's Tea Room offers. I found that ALL the girls and their mothers enjoyed every moment and looked forward to coming back.
I know some think the outside of the building is not as welcoming yet once you enter and are greeted by Katherine you seem to enter a different moment in time.
My last comment is to say that you would NOT get better food at McDonalds and I didn't know McDonalds had tea service?!

This place is simply terrible, I took my wife here for our anniversary and I was never so embarrassed. She loves Tea and goes often with her sisters, but she told me this was the worst she ever had. I took her out to buy another gift after because I felt so bad. Its in a nasty little shopping center, the tea was not prepared right, the decor was cheesy and cheap. Do yourself a favor, go to McDonalds before you go here.

I always enjoy bringing someone new to Katherine's Tea Room when I visit. I am confident they will return with or without me! I must admit that I also enjoy stopping in alone. I find my quite visits peaceful and relaxing. I can't think of a better place to stop and relax for hot or ice tea! Inevitably, I add a treat to my tea and leave with renewed strength for the rest of my day.
