We were so excited when we found out that a tearoom was opening within walking distance of our house and when we finally got a chance to visit we were not disappointed. The variety of teas offered is outstanding and the staff seem to have a good understanding of tea and proper brewing so a good cup is always at hand. When we were there they were still ironing out some kinks in the service and when I asked for a bit of milk for my Ceylon, it was presented in a teacup which made it very awkward to pour. Also, their cup washers need to learn the art of properly drying the cups so that water spots don't mar the surface. The food at In Tea is sparse and limited to a few selections of pastry and scones. I believe they have add some sushi items to their offerings but I've not tried it. It would be nice if they offered a simple butter biscuit with each cup of tea (like Petite Beurre) but alas, they don't Overall, we were very pleased with In Tea and plan on making this our neighborhood tea spot.

Today I happened across this tea shop while strolling along Clear Creek with my son. We stopped in to see if they offered an afternoon cream tea. The cheerful wait staff seated us right away, though we didn't have a reservation and in less than 10 minutes we had a large pot of 'English Breakfast' and lovely plates of heart shaped scones with clotted cream, strawberry jam and fruit. The food was lovely but the tea was not. Even my ten year old son wrinkled his nose at the first sip. I would have preferred bagged Lipton to what was in my cup but overall, we had a lovely visit and would probably return. The tea room is charming. If they put a bit more time into their tea, they'd have a real winner of a place.

  • The House of Commons

My husband and son surprised me yesterday with an afternoon tea at House of Commons for Mother's day. When we arrived, about 15 early, the place was hopping but we noticed a table was already set for three. We proceeded to the counter at the back of the shop but still had to wait a bit before we were acknowledged. When we were finally seated at the table we assumed was ours, the rest of the tea was lovely. The service was adequate, the food was fine and the tea was delicious. They have over 30 varieties of loose tea from Taylors, Twinings, an others. Overall the experience was fine. Though it is a small establishment , when it is busy they would do well to add waitstaff. After we got our tea and food we waited a long time to be asked if we wanted more of anything. The place was busy though so I won't hold that against them. As an added bonus, I received a lovely packet of lavender earl grey tea as we were leaving. I would have no problem recommending this tea room and we will definitely go back.
