We visited this morning to celebrate my daughter's 4th birthday. She has barely been able to wait until she was a 'big girl' and could have a 'tea party'. Despite having great local area tea rooms in Fredericksburg, we decided to venture to Culpeper with our restaurant.com certificate. It was definitely worth the drive! I was quite nervous about also taking my 2 year old, but after reading the other reviews we chanced it and found it quite kid friendly and accommodating. Since it was on a Tuesday, we were the only patrons there. My girls loved the dress up area and could've stayed there all day. The only recommendation I would make would be to add feather boas (and lace) to the collection. I had decided to try the Mids-summer Night's Dream tea after looking at the menu online, but it was out due to the busy Mother's Day weekend. I went with the Iced Wine Tea and was not disappointed. My mother and I ordered the tea for two and my daughters both had the Wee Tea (served with lemonade). The birthday girl loved my tea so much that next time I think she'll get her own pot. The egg salad was so good that I would LOVE it if the owner would reply with the recipe. Everything was delicious, but I would certainly not leave without trying the lemon curd. I would describe the atmosphere as romantic whimsical. If we lived closer we would definitely come more often, but are happy to make Tea, Lace, and Roses one of the birthday traditions in the childhoods on my little girls. They certainly loved to be fancy for a day. The birthday girl was surprised with a round of 'happy birthday' and her own little rose-shaped cake. It couldn't have been more perfect if we had scripted it. Thanks for the wonderful memory!

    Tearoom response:

    Manda,

Your comments were a delight to read. We couldn't be happier in knowing that you, your mother and your sweet daughters enjoyed your time together here. It was good that you all came at slow time of day and could enjoy every aspect of Tea, Lace and Roses. The egg salad is a typical recipe (eggs, mayo, mustard, etc.) and we add our delicioius Gracies Garden Relish. You will have to pick up a jar of the relish on our next visit! We also want to thank you for posting the wonderful photos on our Facebook Page -- they were nice remembrances of this special birthday celebration. We will try to have the Mid Summer's Night Dream for you on our next visit -- you will love this tea with its strawberry and mango flavor. Give our best to your Mother and daugters -- we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
