The House of Commons
The House of Commons is a lovely getaway in the middle of several fun shops on Platte Street. Light and airy, this isn't a fancy or formal place, but it is oh, so pleasant to be in! The quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff make it a place you'll want to return to time and again. The casual atmosphere ('casual' is not meant negatively here!) makes it almost coffee shop-like in that I have seen people sitting at a table and reading a book, while others around them are 'having tea'. As a testament to how comfortable this shop is, it is the only tea house I have ever been in where I have seen men under age 65! Maybe it's the fabulous sandwiches. . .
