This was not my first trip to Miss Minerva's and something didn't feel right when I arrived. It has been several years since my last visit and in the meantime the tea room has relocated. This solved the mystery and the new location is much brighter and more inviting. What didn't change was the pleasure of being there. My party consisted of four loosely related adults and one child, my 4 year old granddaughter, attending her first formal tea. As recommended, we made reservations which included requests for one vegetarian and one individual with celiac disease (gluten intolerance). Miss Minerva's was able to accommodate our requirements without hesitation. The afternoon was wonderful; the tea selection was wide enough to satisfy our variety of tastes, the food was very good, and the service was attentive and very gracious. My party left with some very positive impressions including: Miss Minerva's ability to address a variety of dietary requirements, the loose tea samples at the table (and on the wall) which permitted us the opportunity to smell the various teas before making our choices, and their willingness to make a small adjustment to my granddaughter's order to provide something she would eat. While I have no complaints, I would offer one suggestion. For younger ladies or gentlemen enjoying tea, Miss Minerva's might consider providing child sized plastic tea service. The adult tea cups are a bit heavy for small hands, especially with tea in them, and plastic wear would reduce some of the normal adult fears that the tea service might get broken accidentally. And, for whatever it is worth, I am a 65 year old grandpa with a slightly curmudgeonly outlook on life. This visit was one of life's simple pleasures and I have the pictures to prove it!

    Tearoom response:

    Mr. Howard,

It was our pleasure for you to visit Miss Minerva's. We are delighted that you all enjoyed your time together and that the luncheon and tea were to your liking. We enjoyed having your family visit, and your granddaughter was sweet and delightful. We want Miss Minerva's to be a place where happy memories are made, and it is wonderful to know that this was true for you and your family. Thank you for your kind words and suggestions.
