  • Southport Tea House

This is a charming tea room with an extensive selection of hot and cold teas, even decaf. I had the Chic Chicken salad -- it was the best chicken salad I've tasted anywhere. LOVED the crackers! I tried the pineapple coconut tea and sweetened it with agave. Excellent! My compliments to the chef, who obviously cares about quality. Service is pleasant, friendly, and professional. There is a room for private tea parties and HATS are available! Prices are very reasonable and if you want to purchase a certain tea, you may get it loose. We didn't have room for dessert, but it would have been great, I'm sure. Give this wonderful little place a try when you're near Southport!

  • Lady Bedford's Tea Parlour

Today I made my first visit to Lady Bedford's from Jamestown, NC. The tea takes center stage at this quaint tea parlor; freshly brewed from a vast assortment of quality loose teas, there is something for everyone. A special touch is the list of featured seasonal teas; I tried one with a heavenly maple aroma and flavor that was the perfect accompaniment for a fall day. I was equally pleased with the blueberry lemon bread pudding, warm and moist throughout, each flavor balanced to complement the other without being overpowering. This tea room is tastefully appointed while still being comfortable enough to relax in. Attention to customer service and carefully prepared food round out an ideal tea parlor experience at Lady Bedford's!

  • The Pegg House Tea Room

This was my first time at Pegg House, after years of patronage at Ruby Rose in Stoneville, which has now been purchased as a private residence. I was NOT disappointed at Pegg House! The food was outstanding, expertly prepared and beautifully presented, and the peach iced tea was the perfect complement to the Moravian-style chicken pie I had. My two friends raved about their main courses and had peanut butter pie for dessert (I tasted -- wanted a piece of my own but am being disciplined about sugar for a while) and it was among the best I've had. The house is tastefully decorated with just enough charm to welcome but not overwhelm; the food and tea are the 'stars' at Pegg House. I'll be a frequent visitor!
