  • Brambleberry Cottage and Tea Shoppe

Recently having moved to Spokane I decided to explore what establishments there were to enjoy having a true tea experience. I have tried all 3 tearooms in the Spokane area, and my personable favorite is Brambleberry Cottage. Here is why in comparison that I find 'The Cottage' to be warm, welcoming, cozy, relaxing, inviting and unique. I am always aware of what company's advertise to see if they can deliver what they promise. When pulling up to The Cottage, they house is charming beyond words, you get the immediate impression that you are in for a memorable time. They have wheelchair access that is conviente for wheelchairs and walkers. In another tea room in town, there is no wheelchair ramp that is easy accessible, you have to go through the kitchen! I may be overly picky but if that is an area where my food is being prepared I really don't want more than the workers around it, getting back to Brambleberry...When you enter the house you are welcomed by the most friendly staff, Laura waited on us and was fantastic. She was excellent at explaining how the tea service was served, that we could have as many different types of tea that we wanted. This was a huge relief to us that we could try more than a couple. We started with Blend 206, one of many they blend at the shoppe, it was amazing! Served in a tea cozy, it kept it hot until the last drop. We started out courses with an amazing potato leek soup that was to die for...and than came the rest of the tea sandwiches, scones, crumpets..and my favorite dessert! Let me add that EVERYTHING is made from scratch at Brambleberry. From the tender flaky scones to the passion-fruit cocoa nib eclairs. Presentation was impeccable, great care is taken and it shows. We were encouraged to feel free to roam around the house and look at each room. While we were seated at the charming tea cart we fell in love with the hand painted quotes in the Rose Room. Every room has its own feeling and it all lends to a vintage chic feeling, not stuffy or snobbish at all. We were dressed casual for our visit and were not made to feel like we were out of place. We were able to come, relax, take time out of our hectic lives and relax. We did not feel like we had to be 'proper.' While another tea room in town may have a 'restored' house I find Brambleberry to be the place that will get me coming back for their personable over all service. I understand my review may be lengthy, I wanted to give a true review of this wonderful business.
