This was my first high tea I attended and was very excited as a guest. However, the experience was very lacking. The cup was a coffee cup instead of tea china and sandwiches were cut in squares and piled on plates. The desserts tasted like they were the kind you could buy at the wholesale house. Scones were dry. Wouldn't go again.

I'm with Susan 1/28/08 on this one. My friend and I were very disappointed and won't be going back.

Several years ago I had a wonderful experience having tea at The Canterbury. So, I took my assistant for tea this past Christmas. What a disappointment! No selection on the tea, dry sandwiches and the slim selection of desserts appeared to be purchased. The scones were really good but they were only accompanied by whipped cream. When asked about lemon curd, I was told the chef had never heard of having curd for tea!!! Overpriced for the food and the experience. The service was completely lacking. I really expected better from The Canterbury. I will not be going back.

Cedric is the one to ask for! He will brew as many kinds of special teas you wish. The Canterbury blend is wonderful, and the Christmas Canterbury. Call the pastry chef ahead and request his gourmet chocolate truffles infused with their tea. concierge played the piano...what a treat!

The atmosphere was great! The blueberry scones were AMAZING! However - No choice of tea offered. A HUGE pile of tea sandwhiches came out, not dainty at all, they even used the heel of the bread on one sandwhich. The sweets were store bought.

I went on a day when they had difficulties to overcome, and the service was STILL excellent! Kudos to the staff for making the make-shift tea room into a haven for me, my mother and my mother-in-law. The finger sandwiches were sublime, and the sweets extraordinary!
