Ten Ren (4 reviews)
This is a wonderful find! I spent about a half hour in the store, checking out the variety of teas. Ten Ren sells loose tea and bagged tea - but all at very reasonable prices. I love the mango green tea, and they sell smaller tins to house the tea. I had never had bubble tea before and was at first weirded out... but I gave it a try and really like it. The 'bubbles' taste like mochi; but after a while I ended up drinking all the tea and leaving the bubbles behind. I loved the service as well - Ten Ren has a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. And the atmosphere is warm, serene and inviting. I visited during my lunch break from work and it was so peaceful I didn't want to leave! This is worth a visit!
Ten Ren has a great variety of loose teas, black, green, oolong, and pu er as well as unique flowers and herbs for making your own blendsall good quality and decent prices. They also have some brands of packaged tea hard to find in the US and some lovely yixing pots. Most of the business is retail tea, but they also serve take-out bubble tea--also a great selection. I enjoy the option to replace the tapioca pearls with bits of pudding. A warning to people new to bubble tea: 'plum' means pickled plum, an acquired taste I have yet to acquire.
Ten Ren has the BEST bubble tea. Used to go here for bubble tea all the time after school. I've had a lot of bubble tea, and Ten Ren is still the best I've ever had. I recommend Coconut.
Like the College Park location, Ten Ren's isn't a place to sit down for a cup of tea. However, they do have an excellent selection of teas, reasonably priced Yixing Teapots, and bubble teas. When I use to work in Maryland, Ten Ren's was a great pit-stop for a bubble tea on my way home. The employees are very helpful, and I would recommend Ten Ren's for anyone who is an avid green tea drinker.
