I am from the Gettysburg area and have been to many different tea rooms. This place had nothing special to offer. The did not have the ambiance of a tea room. It was more like a cafe that served tea. The food was very disappointing, just regular sandwiches cut into triangles. My advice would be to stay at home make a sandwhich (which will have more filling and be more flavorful) and brew a pot of tea.

This is my favorite tea room! I drive a 40-45 minute drive from NJ! Great food excellent service and the best scones anywhere in the tri state area!!!

I would visit this charming store just for their 'Empress of Japan' tea. Their recent 'royal wedding' (Kate) is nice mixed half/half with a fine black or oolong tea. In winter try their herbal 'cabin fever cure' if available. It is not uncommon to see three generations enjoying thier tea in the tea room. The collection of individual tea pots is charming, and have enjoyed every tea I've had there.

I wholeheartedly agree Amy. Surly waitress and underpar everything.

They had a decent amount of tea and the food was pretty good, but the dining area was very cramped. Service definitely lacking, after we had finished our tea and wanted refills, it took twenty minutes to catch a server's attention! The shop wasn't even that crowded, it seemed like they were just ignoring us.

Not worth the trip. Tea was lukewarm, food just ok and server was surly.

Everything was average at best but the service was slow and poor.

I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at Special Teas on Saturday with a group of ladies from church. The tea sandwiches, scones, and sweets were delicious; all fresh and homemade. Our servers were very pleasant and attentive. The room was tastefully decorated. It was well worth the one-hour drive, and I look forward to visiting Special Teas again in the future.

I had to write because I have been to Specialteas at least 6 times and have never been disappointed. I almost wonder if the person reviewing in March had been to a different place. I have tried 5 other tea rooms in the area and this is the best. The afternoon tea is a reasonable price and the selection is varied, delicious and not too much. Everything is fresh, rooms quite pleasant and the staff very friendly. I would go back again and again.

We were very unhappy with both the service and the attitude of the server. Our tea water wasn't hot, portions were small and just an overall disappointment. Thank you.

I have been to my share of tea rooms and always return here even with the distance. It is well worth the trip. No other tea room can compares to all you will find here...from the teas to the food to the people. I love the tea of the month! I look forward to each new month just for the new tea!

I have been to only 4 tearooms as of yet, this one was my least favorite. While on the menu it read all items available, when we arrived we could not get soups and salads, also someone who accompanied me asked for the artic mint it was clearly a peach blend they had a nice variety but after your first pot when more water was added it most definetly lost a lot of flavor will not be telling anyone about this one

My Mom and I are from Springfield, Delaware COunty, and we came upon this wonderful tea room many years ago. I have been to many tea rooms, including Strafford-on-Avon, England, and all over Britian. This tea room is excellent. I am surprised by the negative comments. The owners are warm and friendly. The soup is to die for, as are the scones, sandwiches and tea.

I went to this tea room to celebrate a friend's birthday three months ago, and although I enjoyed it at the time, it does not compare to the other tea rooms that I've visited since then. The variety of teas is decent and similar to other tea rooms; however, the tea leaves are left in the pot, forcing the drinker to strain the leaves, which we weren't aware of until we noticed tea leaves in our cups. The quality of food wasn't bad; the sandwiches were the average tuna/chicken salad/etc., but each person received her own plate. The service was off because it was the waitress' first day, although the young girl was trying, and the cashier, whom we assumed as the owner, reprimanded her when we pointed out that we had only been charged for one person's tea instead of three. This review sounds as if it's negative, but it was really just average. I enjoyed my tea selection (Very Berry) more than any I've had since then and wished I had purchased it.

This was a dissapointment to us. We came from another state to come here and our tea water was lukewarm, the food was not very fresh and worst of all the service was terrible and server surly. After reading all reviews we expected lots more.

Special Teas Tea Room has a warm, friendly atmosphere. We had reservations for tea Sat. morning but stayed for a delicious lunch and desert! The presentation of teas was excellant, reminded us of England. J.K. Rowling has stopped here while on her book tours.

This tearoom is fabulous! The scones are awesome! Just like the ones i had in London! And there is a great variety of teas! I went to other tea rooms and the food cannot compare. I NEVER had any problems like the ones listed and i go all the time!! It is also child friendly.TIP Try to have reservations on Saturdays it gets quite busy.

Special Teas is the first tea room I ever visited and I continue to think it is the best! Our last visit in November was just as wonderful as my first visit, about 6 years ago.

We are regulars at this place, try to get there at least every month or two. The teas are delicious (I love the Russian Caravan and Winter Mint, my wife is especially fond of Countess Grey, cinnamon flavored Holiday Tea, berry and several others). The scones are wonderful, especially the raisin and cranberry. The full tea is beautifully served, the owner and servers are always welcoming and friendly. Perfect on a cold rainy day, with warm ambiance and great decor.

This place was ok. It wasnt the best I've been to but I wasn't impressed and wouldn't go back. The tiny giftshop was quite lovely however. The waitstaff were not nice and while I was walking to use the bathroom I tripped over all the cludder. It was quite messy in there but the tea sandwiches were ok.

I've got to tell you folks...double check to make sure they are open. I've been there twice during 'business hours' and they were closed......no note, no sign...no excuse.
I'm not exactly around the corner and I don't see this as a particulary good way to run a business...open whenever you feel like it?

This trip here was a big disappointment as it came highly recommended. And the waitress was surly to boot.

I frequent this place, and I highly reccomend it. The selection of teas for such a small place is amazing. I have only had the same tea a few times. I also send the dry tea to the ladies in my family for little gifts. It is also nice to keep some on hand at home to drink at my leisure. The food-especially the bacon tomato quiche is wonderful! The cream of mushroom soup is great, and my 2 yr old is in love with the raisin scones and the empire cookies. Go-its great!

Delicious, home-made, fresh food. amazing tuna croissant sandwiches, excellent quiche, the best soups and dont even get me started on the ceasar dressing made from scratch! I cannot express how delectable this food is! Highly recommended! Lovely, friendly and gracious waitstaff. try the vanilla tea! I love this place! Simply the best!!

Just do not know what to say. Came with several friends as this was highly recommended. Did not find tea selection adequate, felt cramped and left feeling hungry. Enough said.

what a charming and beautiful tea room! I would definately recommend this fine restaurant toany that may ask. I will be returning, I dono think that I can wait much longer to have one of 'judy's scones' with all of the preservatives. Not just the scones , I have had many of the items on the menu and they were all delicious! looking forward to yet again another enjoyable time!

My Mom and I (from Springfield) have been going to the tea room for many years. The service is great, the ambiance gorgeous and tranquil. We love this place. The owners are always gracious -- it is our favorite special place.

I held a bridal shower for my sister here in May 2005 and cannot say enough wonderful things about this tea room. The staff was friendly and attentive. They were so pleasant in dealing with all of the guests' special requests. The owners were extremely accomodating and were very patient in dealing with last-minute changes. The food and tea were both fabulous. After the shower, several guests told me they were going to make plans to hold showers there as well. I highly recommend Special Teas Tea Room!
