The Four Seasons Tea Room opened on October 1, 2002 in a building that had previously served as an apothecary for over 100 years. Some reminders of its previous life dot the interior of the tea room … the century-old apothecary cabinets, the large safe, and the friendly service that can be rare these days.

Looking back, mother and daughter, LaVerne Witto and Andrea Schuldt, seemed destined to open a tea room in the Copper Country. They have both been collectors of china and glass for years; love to cook, bake and entertain; and find that “taking tea” can be a most relaxing art form.

Fast forwarding to present day, locals and tourists alike seem to find a peaceful atmosphere, great tea and food, and attention to detail at the Four Seasons Tea Room. As the years have progressed, special events have been added; the menu slightly expanded (though the focus will always be Afternoon Tea); and regulars have become extended family.

I took a girl here for valentines day in 2014. I am a tech student and I really enjoyed the experience. The tea is delicious, and the food comes in smaller portions but is fantastic.

I never do reviews as quite frankly ive never been moved to do so but this place went so far beyond my expectations that i had to find a site to compliment them. First of all the place is clean and beautiful, you walk by and your nose is pulled in the door by the wonderful aroma's that pour out the door. When i went in i was immediately greeted by one of the nicest people i have had the pleasure of speaking to and on top of that her knowledge of her product blew me away, i found out later that she was the owner and a great job she does. Every tea that have is available to sample and in the front of the store she has every tea available to smell and look at in small clear glass jars.Next we looked at prices expecting them to be higher than what we are used to, Teavanna, but they were half the price of our favorite teas. Next we began to sample, every single tea i sampled i bought two ounces of. If you ever get up to the UP make sure you stop in at the Four Seasons Tea Room, the only regret i have is that i did not purchase more and tho she does not have online ordering she is just a phone call or email away and will mail your order. Thank you for an experience i wont ever forget and i will do my best to give you the word of mouth advertising you deserve.

It's a quaint little tea room with at least 40 teas. The dish ware is all old china and exquisite. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is laid back, comfortable, and perfect to study/work in. If you are EVER in the Houghton/Hancock area, or in the Keweenaw, and like tea at all, please pay this shop a visit!

This is my favorite tea room I have ever frequented. The owner Andrea is always there and pleasant - her menu always has a nice variety - having a few choices for each course. There is an astonishing variety of teas that rotates with the season, though I can still get my favorite, a fall tea, in the spring. Andrea makes an effort to get to know all her customers, it is not possible to say enough good things about this establishment.

Wonderful tea room. Afternoon tea is lovely, delicious and reasonably priced. Decor is delightful, very cozy and intimate. Owner is very friendly. I have tried tea rooms in many parts of the US. This is my favorite place to go.

I took a group of ladies to the Tea Room for sort of a bridal shower and it was very elegant. The service was wonderful and the varieties of teas was wow. The staff was willing to help out taking pictures and the food was just wonderful. As for the teas I personally tried 3 , the Creme Brulee, the Keewenaw Sunset and the Plum Brandy. I will go back. Plus I loved the live guitar music.

I lived in Houghton for a while and when I moved there this tea shop had just opened, It was the first place I went to for lunch. It became quickly my favorite place to eat and to relax and enjoy a cup of tea. I do so miss it now that I no longer live there.

I have been a tea drinker since the 60s and have been to tea shops in numerous locations and this one is still by far my favorite.

I LOVE English tea and so try to find tea shops wherever I travel to. Although I grew up downstate Michigan, I've fallen in love with English tea while I've lived in Los Angeles. Imagine my surprise and utter delight when I even FOUND a teashop in the UP, let alone one that was around the corner from where my aunt lives in Hancock. I have pretty high standards but wasn't expecting much. I couldn't have been more wrong.

This tea shop is second only to my beloved Rose Tree Cottage in Pasadena, CA. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised and delighted by the atmosphere, the tea selections, the food, and the complete friendliness and service of the owner. After my aunt and I went there for lunch, I went there everyday for the rest of my trip even if it was just for a cuppa.

I am returning this fall (2007) and have already scheduled with my aunt to go the first day I am there for lunch and I will go daily for my cuppa. The UP is God's country, but the Four Seasons Tea Room makes it heaven!

One of the best afternoon tea experiences available in the midwest. Having attended afternoon tea at The Drake in Chicago and The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, The Four Seasons is far beyond those in every category. It is definetly worth making the trek to The Four Seasons. This is one of the finest run family businesses in the state.

This was the best experience in the U.P. Four Season's food and service were five star. They are located in a beautiful building and the decor is perfect for tea. The portions were very generous and the food was absolutely delicious. I would go out of my way to get to this location run by a wonderful mother and daughter team. A real gem in the U.P. My husband is going with me next time!
