I've been to a lot of 'Tea Houses' and I adore this place!! Warm and charming in it's appearance with high ceilings, floral patterns and large windows that let in lots of natural light. The tea selection is quite simply, exceptional, It's all loose leaf, NO bags... as it should be. The food is all fresh and beautifully presented. I must single out the Cream of Tomato soup for being so good it's almost addictive. The staff are all cheerful and attentive. There is a cute little section as you enter that sells all of the teas as well as tons of tea related items; pots, cups, cookies lemon curd.....you get the idea. The ONLY thing negative that I could say is it can be a little loud when the room is at full capacity.( I think it has something to do with an intimate space with a high ceiling). DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU from experiencing this place ! if you want silence while you sip, just go a little bit off the lunch hour. There is limited parking in the rear of the building other wise, you can park on the street. The weekends frequently get booked for parties so be sure to call before you go if it's a Sat. or Sun. Have fun!

I had a very nice experience at Chado. I met a few girlfriends here for tea and the staff was very accomodating. The food is not super high-end or fancy, but it is tasty. Their scones and chado cream are some of the best I've tasted. The tea is fabulous! Decor is minimal, but that is fine if you're not into the super girly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Exclusive and Exotic that is the right word for this tea room located in the heart of Los Angeles .Above all I would say if I have to recommend a Tea Room that would be Chado LA .

I have been a customer at Chado since it was owned by Sweetie. Reena is passionate about her business and it is evident. Their tea selection is unmatched, their service is impeccable and the food delicious. I painted a room in my home the same pinky lavender as the colour on their walls.

Now this is a tea room! A huge selection, overwhelming really. I would love to live closer, I'd spend a lot of time here. The atmosphere is friendly, informal and cozy. I also like the large variety of items for sale. Very nice!

These are the tea merchants/exports who basically revolutionized the tea experience and made it ok to have sandwiches with goat cheese and tea cups without flowers. Nothing but kudos for this pillar among tea establishments. Love both their locations and have enjoyed each and every visit to both

I go to Chado with my grandmother (91 years old!) at least once a week and needless to say, we love it. Their incredible selection of teas, the ambiance and delicious food are just some of the reasons that we continue to come back. The people working there welcome their customers like family and have all worked their for some time, which is indicative of a great working environment. Since we are regulars, we know several of the other regulars. They also have a superb selection of gifts.

I would never recommend this place for tea and it should not even be considered a tea house. This is simply a restuarant that offers tea. The waiter was abrupt and had no idea what he was doing. The food was so so and the experience very disappointing. I was hoping for a girlie tea day but instead got plain white diner cups and no decor. If want to have a tea experience keep searching.

O my goodness!! I have been traveling around town with my bestfriend to all the different tea houses and it seems that CHADO is a show stopper. The Urban atmosphere incorporates something for every type of tea lover. The food is wonderful and filling. Lastly, the tea, the tea, the tea...If you dont get it, you will just have to go and taste for yourself.

I love Chado tea room. My best friend threw me a bridal shower here and I've been hooked ever since. The sandwiches, soup, salads, and especially the scones with devonshire cream are not only delicious but are portioned for a healthy appetite. Most tea rooms serve you a snack. This is a meal and more. My fave, the suchong chicken sand with lingonberry jam. The tea list here is impressive. The service great. Only con is parking. Can't wait for owner Rina and Nelson to open one in OC.

I've been going to Chado for 10 years. The service has always been warm and welcoming. It's nice not to be annoyed by wait staff always hovering about. Nelson who works at Chado is very attentive, and friendly. The food is simple but good. The scones with clotted cream are heavenly.

If you actually want tea, this is the place! The atmosphere is Indian-style British. Not fluffy, so men are comfortable here, but it's elegant enough for the fru-fru crowd. The tea selection is fantastic. The sandwiches and the soup are great! The scones are weak, and the desserts terrible. The tea and sandwiches make up for the sweets, though.

cafeteria style tea service, minus the service....I'd rather drink at home than brave the traffic,non-parking and always having to ask for the check at this place...

The sandwiches here are delicious and they offer many smaller options in case you're not hungry enough for a full high tea. The full tea is well worth it though; it comes with a variety of sandwiches, a scone, fruit and cake. I also had the chai tea, which was delightful.

The variety of teas at this very small tea room is staggering and the place gets points for that and for at least knowing how to prepare the tea properly. Beyond that.. well, it wasn't worth it. Crowded, noisy with poor service and rotten food. The tea sandwiches were mediocre, the scones were warmed over rocks and I never did get the clotted cream I asked for. And forget about parking. It's street parking and on the weekend nonexistant. So go to buy tea and take it home, but don't bother with a tea service. I've been having tea on a regular basis for years, and I can safely say I'll never have tea at Chado again. For the positive reviews on this, I have to ask. Ever had a true high Tea and did we even go to the same place?

I have been going to chado for years and its more for the local crowd half their customers dont need a menu they have been going there for years the owners at both the stores are great attentive alert and aware of their customer service lately chado has redone their dining room and it is even busier than ever keep up the good work so remember you wouldnt be where you are today without us we will always support you.

We had the Afternoon Tea for $15, while the vanilla flavored tea was very good, the food was terrible. They were out of one type of sandwich and the bakery items were stale. The service was a joke, the staff was not happy to be there and were bothered when we asked for water, the decor is made up of items you'd find at a garage-sale and parking for the 'tea room' is hard to find. There's only one dining room and it's cramped. With all the choices in L.A., save your money and go elsewhere, Chado's in West Holly is not worth the effort.

      

Yes there are many teas to choose from but this is no Tea Room because the service is non-existent. It is run like a snack bar and the servers look like they don't want to be there. I don't understand why anyone would want to spend time here. Are people so starved for tea? This was my first and last time here. I would rather pay more for a quality Tea Room or Hotel where people actually smile and ask you if everything is ok. Also the decor is cheap and ugly and not fitting to the area. We were crammed in to this small space because half of the place is for retail which I guess is where the real money is. What a bad excuse for a Tea Room.

My teas service ($15) sandwich's were 'slapped together'. The staff was very loud in the kitchen cleaning and doing dishes (rubber kitchen mats on dinning floor). I felt like I was in a cafeteria hall. The room also smelled of dirty dish water. Though I was only one of two tables (4 PM) I still had to ask for my check twice, finally having to go to the cashier myself. Very dissapointed to visit after looking forward all week to going. Maybe I went on a very off day while the manager was out of town.

My neighborhood tearoom... a place to go for a meeting with clients. More quietly classy than girly. Men feel right at home. One of the largest selections of tea I've ever seen! The best salmon/dill on pimpernickel! It is a small room so if someone brings their 6 year old it's not enjoyable, but that doesn't happen too often. A true sleeper!
