I was in a party of 6 meeting for tea and lunch, each of us from a different part of Florida. We accidentally met on the day Mt. Dora was having a large antique street fair, and were surprised to get a decent parking spot after driving around a bit, and had no longer than a half hour wait to be seated in this fine tea room. Our food was excellent, 4 of us ordered the 'special'- chicken breast topped with apples and melted cheese on toast. Everyone raved over how good it was. The other 2 orders looked very good as well. I was the only one having hot tea, served in a proper teapot with a proper teacup and a cozy. My only 'complaint' was that while there was a large tea flavor selection, there weren't more 'exotics' and other brands offered. The Florida orange cake was pure heaven, and the berry and 'maid of honour' desserts were delicious as well, served warm. One girl ordered the chocolate cake but said it wasn't as good as a different chocolate dessert she had previously ordered and was no longer available. The service was excellent, considering how busy they were this particular day, and a crying child was quickly soothed by the hostess. We were not rushed to finish our meals, and we were happily accommodated when we asked for separate checks. This was my first tea room visit, and it was a real treat! Please, those who give this place a bad review, try it again, and if you still feel it isn't good, then perhaps you need to examine yourselves.
