They have a wide selection. Nice place to sit down and sample some teas. Recommended. Convenient location near downtown makes it an easy stop after picking up a few items at REI down the road. Try it today.

My daughters and I always enjoy our tea experience at The House of Commons. We don't get to visit often because we live in SD, but the food is fantastic and the tea selection is wonderful.

I love this place. We come here every year for Mother's Day, and every year they deliver with cheerful class. We were there this year with three young children and the staff was super accommodating to our spills and sugar cube eating, but still maintained a classy atmosphere. Lots and lots of loose teas for sale and a lovely case of take-home sweets. My kids can't break anything here, but it still felt fancy.

We happened on this during the holiday season when we couldn't get into the Brown Palace for tea.

It was just fantastic. Great food, wonderful teas, lovely atmosphere, and a good value for our money.

      We will return, I'm sure!

My mom and I love to do afternoon tea and this is our favorite in Denver. We dined on four different kinds of tea sandwiches: cucumber, chicken curry, roast beef, apricot jam & english cheddar. Followed up with two varieties of petite scones with clotted cream, strawberry jam, and out-of-this-world lemon curd. The sweets included a shortbread cookie that melted in your mouth, petite cupcake, and petite cream puff. It is just the right amount of food and all homemade. This is all accompanied by a vast selection of loose teas and served in a non-frilly environment. You feel like you are in London! I highly recommend House of Commons to any Anglophile. The owner is even British!

Lovely. I come here whenever I can for delicious, true scones, tea and lunch. I actually love the clean and nonfussy decor and big windows. Full fancy tea is a treat and very reasonable. Only one complaint is when I came by myself and asked for a window table (all for 4), I got a bit of attitude despite the empty place and not being close to lunch rush.

The House of Commons was a delight. As owner of The Mad Hatter Tea Room in MN we have high expectations when traveling to tea rooms across the country. The owner was very sweet. The food was delicious. The curry chicken sandwich is amazing. We had the afternoon tea service, such a lovely tea. We'll definately return when we visit CO.

The tea was perfect. They had a good selection including pu-ehr. The sandwiches were nice. I thought the atmosphere was a little too modern. I wish there were a bit more colors on the wall. It didn’t have the nice homey feel I like so much at tea rooms. I’m very bit on atmosphere and that didn’t sell me here.

I discoverd this tearoom on my visit to Denver last year, and I made sure I returned this year when I came to Denver. I find it a pleasant and relaxing place, even when it is busy. The food is wonderful. I can get teas there that I have never found elsewhere. The servers have always been friendly and responsive. I always make sure to take time to vist the House of Commons when I come to Denver. I wish I had a tearoom like this back home.

The House of Commons has become a family favorite and a place we take friends for special occasions. The atmosphere is lovely, warm and welcoming and I feel comfortable showing up in shorts if I am in the area or getting dressed up for a birthday or any other event. The food is incredible, I have had Afternoon Tea all over the world and this is the best tea, best scones and clotted cream, best lemon curd ~ if it's a sandwich or soup you are after, this is an amazing place for that as well! Jessica has been perfect in her direction of tea, she offers wonderful advice for what we might like to try and is wonderful with kids too. She has all of the classics, and lot's of fun new varieties too. We are so thankful for the day we stumbled upon The House of Commons, I hope you get to go soon too!

My wife & I were delighted to discover House of Commons a little over a year ago and stop by frequently when we want to step out of the busy world and relax for a little while over a pot of freshly brewed tea (from real tea leaves) and a sandwich (large enough that we can share) and the very tasty 'real' scones with Devonshire Double Cream & Jam. The variety of sandwiches, salads, and scones means we always find something that suits our cravings. Even when most of the tables are full and the staff busy, we've found the general peaceful, casually formal atmosphere to overcome the 'busyness' of the place. Last week we took two friends with us: the two women had Afternoon Tea which was presented very nicely, looked great and according to our friends, 'the shop was very nice, and the young lady who waited on us made it fun.' Everything tasted really good - especially the Chelsea tea sandwich and the Irish Cheddar tea sandwich, and the scones with cream, lemon curd & jam. The other husband and I ordered off the regular menu and enjoyed our Westminster sandwich on the 7-grain bread and freshly made scones, cream, and jam. Another great experience. Thanks House of Commons.

We went back here again to give this Tea room another shot as we loved their cream tea with real raisin scones. However, as has been the case the last 3 times, the service was poor (waitstaff actually roll their eyes when asking nicely for something else they should know to offer first time), and again loud dance music -- not exactly something one expects when visiting a tea room boasting elegance! We came here to unwind in a refined, quiet, classical atmosphere only to have our ears assaulted with loud music I don't mind hearing at a Chili's or akin, and to feel almost apologetic for ordering. We left there more stressed than when we arrived. Although the music was turned down, by the end it was getting louder and had switched to reggae from dance hip hop. As usual, the waitstaff rarely returned to check on us and then only when it was time to get a tip did they seem at all that polite. Very disappointing as their tea itself is very good. Such a seemingly easy thing to fix but the service continues to decline (esp. if owner is gone), particularly for the price paid!. Very disappointing. We can no longer recommend this place to others.

This tearoom is a perfect place for me to meet with friends. I so enjoy Jessica, the owner, and the staff are always the greatest. I love being able to go and just have a pot of tea, and the service is always as pleasant as if we had ordered a full tea. A tea-riffic place to tea!

House of Commons is my favorite! Everything about it is wonderful, from the food to the service. There is a large selection of excellent tea which is also available for purchase. The scones, jam tarts and all other desserts are Yummy and these may also be purchased to take home and enjoy later. Afternoon tea is served at anytime (just be sure to make a reservation) instead of after 2:00 PM, which I appreciate very much. I look forward to many more visits for years to come.

The House of Commons in easily Denver's finest spot for tea, excellent pastries and superb sandwiches. The location, atmosphere and service are always top-notch. I've exposed many guests over the years to Jessica's wonderful shop and all leave with a commitment to return again and again.

My friends invited me to tea almost a year ago and I have been hooked ever since. We try to meet weekly to catch up and socialize.

I enjoy the atmosphere, the quality of all the food and the wide selection of tea they have available. The most challenging part of going there is to try and limit yourself to only one scone!! The sandwiches are superb as well.

When ever I have friends or family in town I take them to The House of Commons because it is one of the jewels of Denver.

My graddaughter and I were visiting from Virginia and decided to have tea. I found the House of Commons very charming and pleasant. It was a nice place to spend time on a rainy afternoon. I've been enjoying this tea house for 3 years. Its a ritual I've grown attatched to. Jessica, the owner always welcomes me and makes me feel

at home in her home. The scones are absolutely the best. The scones at the Drake Hotel in Chicago do not compare to Jessica's. The sandwiches are large and yummy and the soups are divine! When you need a tea fix head to THE HOUSE OF COMMONS! I do about 5 times a week.

My husband and son surprised me yesterday with an afternoon tea at House of Commons for Mother's day. When we arrived, about 15 early, the place was hopping but we noticed a table was already set for three. We proceeded to the counter at the back of the shop but still had to wait a bit before we were acknowledged. When we were finally seated at the table we assumed was ours, the rest of the tea was lovely. The service was adequate, the food was fine and the tea was delicious. They have over 30 varieties of loose tea from Taylors, Twinings, an others. Overall the experience was fine. Though it is a small establishment , when it is busy they would do well to add waitstaff. After we got our tea and food we waited a long time to be asked if we wanted more of anything. The place was busy though so I won't hold that against them. As an added bonus, I received a lovely packet of lavender earl grey tea as we were leaving. I would have no problem recommending this tea room and we will definitely go back.

I don't understand why this place has so many high marks. Perhaps they used to be good. But for the fact that the owner is British, there would be no other way to identify this as a 'British style' tea room. #2 out o 40? What are you comparing it to? There is no artistry to the tea service. The atmosphere is anything but cozy. Once is enough.

Nice, but over priced. The tea was good, however, when I asked for more hot water, they threw some tea bags in the pot of a different flavor than what I had originally ordered, and never made it back to our table so I could get that fixed. The quantity of pastries with the tea was pretty sparce. Another table (of 4) had tray upon tray delivered to their table. We had to ask for more pastries, and got a very curious response; she asked us what we wanted, instead of getting the same treatment as other patrons and having more treats brought as needed. It put a damper on the experience. She brought out a few sandwiches and scones, and moved them from her tray to the one we had just emptied. Other than the multi-level tray, and dainty portions, everything was just average. No different than service at any neighborhood cafe. For nearly $20 a head, I expected something nice, and was disappointed. The atmosphere is stark, and the portions are small. If you are determined to go there, I recommend ordering from the menu, at $6-7 per person. You'll get more food, and the same service, for half the price of the afternoon tea.

Very pleasant - this is a local favorite for my tea friends. If we wish tea on Sundays, it's a good idea to make a reservation. The owner is kind and the shop extremely clean, we just had high tea this last weekend and the food was excellent as always and the owner full of good cheer in wishing my friend happy birthday. Quiet, well-lit, clean and bright.

We love this tea house! The Eccles cakes are especially wonderful and flaky. Making all the food and desserts on the premises, makes the food superior to what is available elsewhere in town. The tea is piping hot, loose leaf, Taylors of Harrogate (the best in my opinion!). They have wonderful service with a smile. Whether we come in for a cream tea, a full lunch, or (haven't yet, but saw the presentation)Afternoon tea, it's a delightful event for the senses. I do wish it was a bit 'cozier,' but the people, service, and food make up for the bit of missing nostalgic 'romance' of the tea house. It is far better than the majority of tea shoppes in Denver.

On Dec 9, my best friend and I went for tea at The House of Commons. It was a fabulous experience. There are a wide variety of teas that are whole leaf. We had two of the green teas and they were quite flavorful. We also had the formal tea. There were a nice variety of sandwiches that were quite tasty. The real treat were the scones with devonshire cream and lemon curd. These we savored. They are made fresh and it shows. We also had a nice selection of sweet treats that we savored. This was a real treat for my friend since she was visiting from New Jersey. We were able to sit and talk and catch up. The atmosphere was relaxed and we did not feel rushed even though the shop was busy. Jessica, the owner made time to check on her customers and this added to our experience. This is a fun tearoom nestled in a funky corner of Denver. Another friend is coming this weekend and we will return to sample the treats.

My friends and I visited this tea place Wednesday, 11/22 during lunch time. They offered an excellent selection of tea. I was very impressed. My choice of jasmine blossom green tea was great, yet I wish I could say the same thing to their tea sandwitches and pastry. Sandwitches tasted very stale while pastry was old... The service was horrible too, unfortuniately. We waited about 30 mins for our first pot of tea and needed to ask for Devonshire cream when tea was finally served. Very disappointed and will not recommend to others and nor go back.

I could not be more pleased that this teahouse is just a few miles from my home. Very glad I found it on Adagio’s Tea Map. This is now one of my Sunday rituals.

Jessica Avery is the proprietor and she could not be a better hostess. They cater from the casual to the formal tea and have brilliant sandwiches, my personal weakness are the homemade scones (I like them plain with cream and lemon curd).

Everyone is welcome in this magnificent gem of a place right in the heart of Denver (It is just a short walk from the end of the 16th street mall, near the new pedestrian bridge on I-25)…if you are in Denver you should give this ‘brilliant’ British Tea Room a try you will not be disappointed.

The House of Commons is a lovely getaway in the middle of several fun shops on Platte Street.

Light and airy, this isn't a fancy or formal place, but it is oh, so pleasant to be in! The quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff make it a place you'll want to return to time and again.

The casual atmosphere ('casual' is not meant negatively here!) makes it almost coffee shop-like in that I have seen people sitting at a table and reading a book, while others around them are 'having tea'.

As a testament to how comfortable this shop is, it is the only tea house I have ever been in where I have seen men under age 65! Maybe it's the fabulous sandwiches. . .
