To Evelyn, I too have visited this tearoom. And apparently, I must have been there on the same day as disappointed guest because I am in fact English and am in total agreement with the negative review. Are you sure you are going to the same tearoom as I am?

This place does not compare to a proper tea, it just lacks everything a true tearoom needs except the house!

I do not enjoy saying ill of such places, but I would have rather gone to a real tea house!

So sorry, is true though. Absolutely horrid!:(

To all those who have visited this place and including EVELYN who might I add has no clue. It is a lovely house, which I leave it at that. This tea room is barely a tea room. The owner is clueless of the proper ways to serve tea and she does not use loose leaf teas. Her food is minimal and might I add quite unappetizing. No one is Jealous of this tea house! Thats for sure. If you haven't already visited here... do not waste your time doing so!

Victorene's is so beautiful in every way. I see there is a negative review here which I find puzzling. It can not be anyone who ever has attended a tea party at Victorene's. I am sure there are jealous people out there who would just leave a bad review to be mean-spirited and I can tell you that has to be what the negative review is all about- I ASSURE YOU! I am a regular at Victorene's and her food is amazing in appearance and taste. There is such a large amount that we normally can not even finish. The atmosphere is the ultimate. You are transported back in time and I instantly feel pampered and relaxed. The owner, Chris, is wonderful. You feel like you have known her your entire life upon meeting her once. If you are looking for the perfect place to have a tea party, this is it!

Victorene's is my happy place! The tearoom is beautiful inside and out. The home has such a happy and loved feeling. My friends and I enjoy it every time we attend. We keep bringing new family & friends with us and can't recommend it enough. Food is superb and the selections the owner chooses are exactly how I would do it if I owned a tearoom! If I could give this tearoom more stars I would! A must try for anyone, there is not a better tearoom in the area. I've had tea in England, and this is better, way better!

Excellent on all points. This tearoom is unique and wonderfully special as it is located in a historic farmhouse. So, for me, the atmosphere was incredible. I loved how the owner, Chris, decorated the home and how she arranges the tables for tea. She has a knack for putting china together with vintage linens. Beautiful. The food was all homemade, generous amount for tea fare, and delish. As with my table, I heard many asking for recipes to the food served. I liked how we sampled two loose leaf teas served with the course of food. Another fun part of tea is the program. I attended St Patrick's Irish Tea and it was so sun to learn about him and also for the guests to participate in a trivia contest. It added to the perfect day! I give this tearoom 4 stars!

Wonderful tearoom, best in town. Everytime I go I spend time talking with Patty and Lynne, they are so warm and friendly. The food is great and the tearoom itself is beyond words. Don't miss this it's and experience you won't forget.

I just made reservations for the St. Patrick's Day Tea on March 17th. As I went last year, I wanted to review this tea room. The Victorian parlor, where my friends and I had tea, was filled with character & beauty. Chris, the owner, is the perfect hostess. The attention to detail on the table decorations, and food preparation truly made it an unforgettable experience for me. I highly reccomend it to anyone looking for a charming place to have lunch.

My husband, best friend, and I were looking for a fun and different experience for a night out. We had heard good things from many about Victorene's and decided to attend the Halloween Ghost Tour & Tea on October 20, 2012. Victorene's is located in a LOVELY area and we really enjoyed our hour drive to the event looking at the BEAUTIFUL countryside and the color of the changing leaves (very relaxing & stress reducing)! Victorene's is located in a gorgeous mid 1800's Victorian farm house which is the owner's residence. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately at our reserved table upon arrival. The home is absolutely LOVELY and decorated BEAUTIFULLY! There were so many GREAT Halloween touches and the other guests there were all so friendly and very nice! The owner and hostess, Chris Cole was just so warm and welcoming and you can tell that she absolutely LOVES what she does! Her niece Emily was a wonderful server and was also extremely nice! We were served two kinds of tea (Pomegranate Vanilla and Blackberry Sage) and they were both WONDERFUL!!! The food that was served both looked and tasted AMAZING and was a very special treat for us. Chris served a very delicious sweet potato & pear bisque soup that all of us LOVED! The sandwiches served were a club with brown sugar ham with delicious cheese and mixed greens and a dijon egg salad on a croissant. My husband can't eat eggs, so Chris graciously made certain that she had an extra club sandwich for him - and also was sensitive to the fact that others may have nut allergies - so she obmitted nuts from the menu. A delicious pumpkin scone was served with a generous amount of amazing cinnamon cream cheese spread. There were also wonderful chocolate covered strawberries and pumpkin shortbread kisses cookies. My husband had never been to a tea before and he LOVED EVERYTHING and had a GREAT time! After the tea, it was a nice touch that Chris had some of the scones and cookies available for sale to take home to enjoy later!!! After the tea, Chris talked about a ghostly experience that she had in the house and also showed us a video of what she experienced. We then went on a short walk to a park across the street to discuss the Adena Indians that had burial mounds there. All three of us had a FANTASTIC time and keep talking about what a fun evening we had. We HIGHLY recommend Victorene's and will definitely be going back to another event there - - hopefully soon!!! We heard that Chris will be hosting a Christmas tea on December 8th and 9th - so if I were you, I would check it out - because I am sure that the teas will sell out fast and I am certain that the food and decorations will be top notch and will put you in the Christmas spirit!!!

My friends and I just celebrated our annual summer get together at Victorene's Tea. It is the perfect place for our girl's day out. We are never rushed, incredible food and tea, impeccable service. The atmosphere is so relaxing. At the close of our tea, I am given the bill without having to wait for it, and am told to please take my time and enjoy myself! Where else can you go where someone tells you that? I only wish I had more time to visit more often. Our group makes sure we visit yearly and hoping to make that twice a year in 2013. It's nice to know that things at Victorene's are the same...perfect!

I'm not normally a person who would leave a review, but had to give this tea room 5 stars! I'm find it odd on the review below about the food because the food was all anyone could rave about when I went. It is homemade and presentation amazing. When tray was brought out to the table, we all went 'ahhhh'! As far as the amount, we left with doggy bags! You will not find a better atmosphere anywhere in and around Pittsburgh. Tea was prepared perfectly. We had ginger peach and loved it. Also, we were served a Chai that was outstanding. Best salad dressing I have ever tasted, a berry vinaigrette. We loved it and plan on a speedy return!

Very beautiful environment, loved having tea in a true historic landmark. Food was generous, homemade, impressive presentation as well. The owner was so sweet that I even asked if I could hug her when we left. We had a cinnamon plum tea that smelled as good as it tasted. Can't forget to mention the first course was an organic salad topped with berries and a homemade four berry viniegrette that was the best salad dressing I have ever tasted. I think it contained blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. I will return.

Enjoyed! Enjoyed! Each moment at Victorene's. I am a scrapbooker and loved how we were given a beautifully printed program as a keepsake. The pictures I took o the food turned out incredible! One thing I love is a tea room that feeds you and the presentation was outstanding. They have these antique china stands in pink and gold that are so pretty. The tables are also set with antique china as well. Service was perfect and friendly. We adored Chris, the owner. If you want a special day, this is the place. Oh, and the tea is fresh brewed and piping hot- which I loved!

Absolutely excellent- a tea room you rate all others against! I've been here 3 times-with my mother and sister for Mother's Day, with my sister for the Titanic Tea, and with my best friend for their Christmas Tea & Tour. We are unanimous in delighting in every aspect of our visit to Victorene's. The service is attentive and cheerful, the decor alone is a reason to visit the 1800's Victorian home. The food is fresh and decorative and changes every month. You never leave hungry like some other tea rooms. I must say I attend tea rooms on a regular basis and they can't compare in service, food, selection of tea, or atmosphere to Victorene's. I feel if you are going to TEA, it should be charming. This place is spectacular!

Just made my reservation for the upcoming September Covered Bridge Monongahela History Tea. As I went last year, I thought I was qualified to review this incredible tea room. I must start with the owner, Chrissie. She is a lovely and charming hostess. You will instantly feel as if you have known her your entire life. The 1800's Victorian home is amazing. How honored I felt to be welcomed inside and treated like a family member. All table preperations are done in a classic style. Chris has a knack for those perfect special touches. Now, the food. It is all homemade, even down to the mock devoshire cream. The menu changes with the seasons. She even wrote a cookbook that allows her customers to recreate a tea party at home. The tea selection also change with the season and guests are able to sample two different teas, fresh brewed and loose leaf. I can not wait to attend the September tea and I urge customers to do the same!

I treated my mother, aunt, and cousin to a Mother's Day Tea at Victorene's. I was able to bring my 16-month old son and was received very well. First to address the house is lovely and to my knowledge the restoration was quite extensive. Although, just because one has a huge lovely old home in period style does not qualify them to call it a Tea Room/ Tea House.

I was dissapointed with the knowledge of the owners/server of tea and HIGHLY dissatisfied with the menu. I would NOT recommend stating on the menu a variety of chocolates when one is served a single ferrero rocher. I mean really, one chocolate does not constitute as stating a variety of chocolates. Nor would I ever serve a scone cut as a biscuit; in half. That was ghastly.

There are however finer points to the so-called 'teahouse'; Chris is lovely and the home is lovely.

I mean honestly mispronouncing names 'Rose Butt tiker' Come on, that was a disaster. And to pay Thirty dollars for four cups of tea, a scone, a small plate of lettuce and ferrerro rocher makes me laugh. Has this proprietor ever been to a tea before? I would suggest visiting other venues before calling 'Victorene's' a tearoom. PLEASE~

Yet, this Titanic Tea sank with the ship!

My first visit to Victorene's was for the Titantic Themed Tea with my Mother. The owner and hostess, Chris Cole, encouraged us to dress in period attire, but I had to settle for wearing my Sunday best. One couple came in period clothing and looked fabulous. I enjoyed hearing about the history and renovations of Chris' home. The house itself is very charming and warm and welcoming. The Tea was very good with everything themed around Titanic. I enjoyed the loose leaf tea choices. The salad dressing was delicious, as were the sandwiches and treats. The scones were my favorite and we took two of those home with us. I look forward to returning and bringing my two young daughters!

This tea room is amazing from the moment you walk through the foyer door. The house smells so wonderful and is decorated beautiful and quaint. It gave me the feel of a B&B as the owner lives in the 1800's Victorian. I have been there three times and each time I take a new friend or family member. I loved the food, white chocolate scones are heavenly. All her food is homemade and prepared special for her guests. Also, loose leaf, fresh brewed tea is served and two selections. Tea poured for you and as much as you want which I liked. If you like the charm of a historic home, and Victorene's is a Landmark home, there is no better place to take tea..

My friends and I attended the Haunted Halloween Tea. First, we were impressed with the charm and beauty of the house. We were quickly greeted by the owner, Chris, dressed in costume as a pretty princess. We were given name tags and led into the home. The inside is just as charming as the outside. We were given first round of clues. Next, we were served a fall menu of food, all homemade and tasty. There was another round of clues and next a murder. We all tried solving it and last round, which was the reveal. This was so fun and organized! Fabulous time. Another note, I really liked how I could have as much tea as I wanted to drink and was given different teas with our courses of food. In one word, I describe this tea room as- charming!

I was very disappointed in this whole experience.

My 1st complaint is that I thought we were going to go on a covered bridge tour before or after the tea. But all we got was a dissertation on the covered bridges. Although very informative - it was also very disappointing.

My 2nd complaint is that we were only given one kind of tea and when asked if we could choose another tea we were told no they were serving the tea that was featured for the day. For $30 I want to sample as much tea as I could drink. That is my sole purpose for visiting tea houses is to sample the variety of tea not drink one kind that I didn't even like.

The food was good the hospitality and service were superb however the whole experience was misinforming.

I would like to have had a little more for the price I paid and the distance I traveled to get here.

Because I got too busy to plan properly, I was in the market for a tea party for my mother's 80th birthday at the last minute. A google search revealed that Victorene's was the only place in the region with an opening the day I needed it. What a perfect fit it turned out to be. She had favors, games, a written program and menus. These are all things I would have done on my own, but did not have time to do so, and she had it as part of her regular offering. To top it off, she is located in a small town in the Pittsburgh region where Mom spent some of her youth, and some relatives attended who were part of that period in her life. It was very serendipitous to find Victorene's. The day could not have gone smoother; the event itself ran well, the tea, sandwiches and desserts were excellent, and the decor and home absolutely gorgeous. If there were ever a more perfect way to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday, I could not have found it if I would have had 6 months to plan. It was wonderful I highly recommend Victorene's to anyone.

There is only one word 'disappointed'. That's how I felt after the $30.00 Mother's Day Tea at Victorene's. The tea preparation was a box of everyday Lipton, the scones were so dry, i choked and the service, we sat down at 1 and didn't get any food until 2:10. Victorene needs to go to a few Tea's and see how to serve a proper Tea. I must say her home is lovely, a wonderful place to have a Tea.

Just came back from the Mardi Gra tea. Too pricey for the little amount of food you get. $30 PLUS TIP AND TAX. $37.00 REALLY? Went away hungry.

My red hat group attended Victorene's Mardi Gras Tea Party on March 13. As usual Chris and her team did their best to make you feel at home. The food was a feast for the eyes and the palate. The house is lovely both inside and out. All my ladies had a wonderful time and are looking forward to going back--either as a group or with their daughters and granddaughters. I highly recommend Chris's teas, they are something special.

When you step in to the foyer of Victorene's you know you are in for a tremendous experience. The beautifully restored home gives you a sense of warmth, quality, and skilled craftmenship. Each room has its own distinct pleasure to the eye with heavy respect to detail and historic value. We were fortunate to recieve the house tour as part of our afternoon tea event. The hostess was more than gracious and personable - someone you want to sit down with and have a cup of tea!! I could feel 'Grandma Victorene' smiling with pride AND gratitude (to Chris, our hostess)- as we walked through the rooms of her former home. Victorene would be and should be the talk of the town!! We drove 45 minutes to sip the wonderful loose leaf plum tea and taste the wonderful lunch. We did not want to leave - and WILL be back with friends!

The tea I attended was a very important day as it was my Mom's birthday. She loves tea and drinks in every day. I thought this would be a special treat for her and Victorene's was indeed special! We both loved the food (all homemade) , the tea we drank was a blackberry and was brewed perfectly and tasted wonderful, also noted Victorene's brews loose leaf which is by far the best way to drink tea. The charming host, Chris, and her home just topped off the experience. Although, we plan on trying more tea rooms, I would find this one hard to beat. It was the perfect place for a perfect day.

Incredible food, fresh brewed tea, tasty fresh fruit and tea cakes were incredible! Scones were like no other tasted, soft, yet crumbly, sweet, but not too sweet. Victorene's Tea room is the best tea room in the area! My family attended the Covered Bridge Monongahela History Tea and it was fabulous! The home is beautiful, built in the 1800's and restored with such love. It is such the perfect place for a tea party. The food is made from scratch. Chris, the owners, scones are the best I have ever tasted. We were started with a fall inspired soup, sweet potato bisque, so incredible! The other sandwiches and pastries were wonderful! Loved all the special touches and surroundings! Don't think another tea room could match up to Victorene's!!! In one word- wonderful!!!

My rating for Victorene's would be A++++! I attended a bridal shower there this summer and it was so elegant. The bride, my cousin, was thrilled with the experience at Victorene's. The owner even took care of the games & prizes so all my family did was show up & enjoy a wonderful tea party! The tables were decorated to perfection with fresh flowers from the gardens on the grounds at each tables, & such pretty china and linens. Words just don't do it justice. The food tasted as good as it looked and so many guests at the shower were hoping they could buy a cookbook with the recipes. I hope the owner writes one soon! We had a garden cucumber salad that had a dill dressing & was the best salad dressing I have ever had! Nice selection of food and large portions. A huge part of why I give this tea room excellent ratings is the atmosphere as it is in an old Victorian where you sit and are pampered in true style. Can't say enough to anyone I know about Victorene's. I feel so lucky that I live close enough to go back to one of their monthly event teas and I would for sure recommend anyone to Victorene's. We are going to go back at Christmas & take the tour as well.

Victorene's is honestly by far the most special place around. My family enjoyed tea for the summer themed tea The Titanic Tea. The menu was very gourmet, tasted wonderful, & such a pretty presentation! We adored the house as we felt the special vibe there. So much like home, with the real feel of the period in which it was built 1860. I know this as we even got a little history from the owner who was most charming. I would not go anywhere else for a tea party & think this shows me tea is not fancy but is special and should be enjoyed more often & at Vi torene's !!!!

Last weekend a large group of my friends and family attended Victorene's Tea Titanic Teas. As you drive upon the house, you just know you are in for one special day. It is charming outside and in. The porch was a favorite for me with pale gray and white victorian trimwork. It is such a romantic wrap around porch! Wicker furniture and rockers await you with floral pillows and they even have classical music playing outide! We just sat and talked and enjoyed the porch and roses and landscaping until teatime. If you choose, there is a room to wait inside that has a slideshow of the restoration of the 1800's Victorian landmark home. The house itself is so beautiful and decorated to perfection. I just adored the host, Chris. She takes her time with each guest and makes you feel like you have known her forever! The tables are decorated to perfection with antiques china and silver blended with newer pieces. The linens were beautiful as well and when she brought the food-well lots of ohhhh's and ahhhh's! She started us with a summer salad of cucumbers on a bed of organic greens with a fresh dill dressing. It was the best salad I think I have ever had! I wanted to lick my plate clean. Then, the rest of the tea food was brought on these 3 tier stands and it was loaded! There were these berry sandwiches that were so pretty I didn't want to eat them and honey ham wrap sandwiches and blueberry scones, and these teacakes that tasted like a gouremt doughnut, but so light they melted in your mouth! Also chocolate truffles. Have to say her scones were the best scones I have ever had! Also, the presentation of the food was amazing. We just sat and looked at it for awhile not wanting to touch it! The theme of the Titaic was fun and loved the reading from the movie. I will be going back as Chris does something almost each month with different themes. I would also reccomend Victorene's for a birthday party or bridal shower or baby shower. Nothing would be better that to have tea there for any reason!

My friend and I recently attented Victorene's Tea Titanic Tea party. We had the very best time ever! As an avid tea room customer and in love with that Victorian ere, this place is top of the line in everything-the decor, the tables, the food, the program, even the smells in the Victorian home are incredible! You walk into this incredible foyer with a grand father clock that I could not take my eyes off of and everything in the house is like that-one thing is more pretty than the next. It is decorated so pretty with such love in the house & the restoration. What a place for tea!

The presentation of the food is amazing and tastes even better. I could not have asked for a more welcome greeting from the owner, Chris. She is also the one who waits on you as well and she is the cook! She does it all! Honestly, I an not remember a time when I have been this excited about anything!! Victorene's Tea is a one-of-a-kind place. I give it an A++++++++++++++! Wish I could live there!

First time having 'tea' and enjoyed the serene atmosphere of Victorene's. I was open minded, didn't know what to expect...I was pleasantly surprised and impressed! I'm an espresso/cappuccino drinker and really I don't care for tea...but decided to share the afternoon with two special friends and I'm very glad I did. The tea was blackraspberry/sage and I had 3 cups! The owner didn't miss a beat and paid attention to detail...from the tea to the napkins from the decor of the room to the friendly atmosphere...nothing was missed! Now, I can't wait to bring my daughter and granddaughter. Oh, let's not forget about the food...absolutely WONDERFUL! Everything was home-made, different and GOOD! Thanks to all at Victoene's for a wonderful Christmas Tea...I'll be back.

I attended the Valentine Tea which was absolutely one of the most wonderful tea parties I have ever attend. The hospitality was extraordinary. The food was outstanding and it was the most wonderful time ever, the home is breath taking. If you have not visited Victorene's you really must do so. I know I will be back for many more teas.

      Thank you so much,

I attended the Valentine's Tea this past Sunday at Victorene's Tea and once again it was fabulous. My sister's and I have gone several times together but this past Sunday included our Mother's-in-law. What a great time we all had and they really enjoyed the experience because it was different. Chris does a wonderful job and you feel very well taken care of. My sister's and I will be back again. It's a great way to share some 'sister time'!!

I wanted to do something very special for the core group of clients who have supported my business in the toughest first few years. I choose this very special tea room as Chris operates her establishment as I try to - very personalized and attention to every detail. It is my passion to have every client feel very special.I can tell she operates from the heart. She kept me informed, gave me choices for programs, menus, and seating. Her home is beautiful and inviting. It was perfect.

Having tea at Victorene's is truly a delight. Taking a step back in time to a gracious and charming era is as simple as having a tea hosted by Chris Cole, the attentive hostess. Having tea at Victorene's gives people one more reason to visit the quaint and charming town of Monongahela with its tree-lined streets, wonderful specialty shops and friendly residents. The home which houses Victorene's is simply beautiful as is the surrounding property. The teas are expertly orchestrated and no detail is left unattended. My mom and I hope to return soon. Thank You!

      Dear Chris,

Thank you so much for welcoming us to your beautiful home and for giving us a totally joyful day with your magnificent afternoon tea. We savored every bite of the carefully chosen delights and lingered as long as we possibly could. The Victorian atmosphere which surrounded us in each room was welcoming and elegant, and I'm sure you observed that at the event's conclusion no one was quite ready to leave. The day was a wonderful treat which we will be talking about for a long time. We're already talking about which friends we can bring with us the next time we visit. Thank you so much for all your special touches - the beautifully restored home, carefully chosen art work, family photos, old Monongahela photos - and a chance to meet Mom Cathy. We'll return soon.

      Dear Chrissie,

I attended your Queens Tea in honor of Queen Victoria this past Sunday and cannot stop telling everyone about it! I have never been to anything so elegant, beautiful and delicious. There is not one thing that I would have done differently. As soon as we (my two daughters and me) pulled up in front of the house we knew we were in for something special. The house is beautiful! We felt so welcomed as soon as we stepped into the doorway. We loved how you told us about the house and your love for your family (grandmothers and mothers)and how they have been your inspiration for making other ladies feel specail! The place settings were UNBELIEVABLE! I keep showing off the favor, place card, and program to everyone as I brag about my special treatment! The food was incredible (and I am a picky eater!) I am craving some of your salad! And lastly, the hospitality that you and your mother showed was heartwarming. I have never been treated so specail. I look forward to another special tea with you. Not only would your grandmothers and Ken's!) feel honored, I think Queen Victoria would offer YOU an honorary royal title!

I was recently at Victorene's for a Bridal Tea for my future daughter-in-law. The tea was excellent but Chris's warmth and service were exceptional. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail were outstanding. I would certainly recommend Victorene's for anyone's special occasion.

It is hard to find a place to start with this review. EVERY aspect of the tea was done with such care and perfection! From the greeting to the wonderful slide show in the waiting area to the actual food and tea was second to no other tea that I have attended. Cheers to Chris and Victorene's Tea!

We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our Mother/Daughter Victorian Candlelight Tea! Chris Ann was the most endearing hostess who took every opportonity to make us feel special. The food, the service, the decor & of course the 'tea' itself was exceptional. We had a fabulous time playing games, learning the history & traditions behind this distinguished event & fellowshipping with good friends. All of our daughters have recently graduated from high school & are preparing to enter the colligate world. As mothers, our desire was to have the pleasure of experiencing a notable evening that celebrated our daughter's accomplishments & bond. We can not thank you enough for supplying the perfect setting for a delightful evening. The time we shared together & the memories made that evening at Victorene's are sure to last us all a lifetime!

I am looking forward to a special event that Victorene's tea is putting on for my 15 month old little girl who has Cystic Fibrosis. Chris, the owner of this fabulous tea room, has done a wonderful job organizing things for such a special event. She has been so kind and I have been to prior teas of hers and they have been so elegantly prepared for. She does an excellent job with her display and creativity, as well as her baked goods and tea sandwiches are to die for! We are so lucky to have her tea room so close to our home! Love, Wendi
