The Tea Room at McLaughlin Gardens (2 reviews)
This is NOT a tearoom. Only a cafe. We arrived on a drizzly day and were shown into a very cold room heated only by a foot heater. The other people there were huddled in their coats. When our tea arrived, the teapot was dirty and my wife's spoon was encrusted with crud. It was disgusting. We brought it to the manager's attention and left. Would NEVER return.
Sadly, The Tea Room at McLaughlin Gardens is lacking in everything that a tea room should have. On the day that I and three friends visited (two from out of state whom I had convinced that visiting a Maine tea room would add tremendously to their summer vacation), there was no tea except iced, soup for only three of us, and not much else. I felt embarrased for the waiter who told us--and others who came in after us--'Sorry, we're out of...' Needless to say, we left hungry and unsatisfied.
