Lulu's Tea Room (3 reviews)
It's good only because it's the only one in this area. Their tea is Stash brand, commercially bagged, and they don't bring a teapot, only small cups. Their tea-tier is tasty enough, though the egg salad and chicken salad sandwiches are commonplace and the quality varies depending on who mixed them. The fruit is always fresh, and there's a mix of sweet treats that usually varies. It's only enough for one person, though, so if you plan to share, order two. The rest of their menu offerings are fairly plain fare, stuff you could make at home
Lulu's has an original style and decor that keeps you entertained the entire meal. The restaurant itself is a restored victorian home with a colorful atmosphere. Reservations are a must. The chicken pecan quiche and the blackberry cake are to die for. The waitress's and Lulu, herself, are a fun, enjoyable group.
While recently visiting Knoxville decided to try this 'tea room'. While this is a very cute restaurant, it's not what I would traditionally call a tea room. There is a nice lunch menu and one can order a tea tier, but must call ahead for scones. desserts are not part of the tea service. All the sandwiches were tasty but average. the biggest disappointment is when we were presented with a basket of tea bags and a pot of hot water. If you are looking for a 'tea room' experience, this is not it. But it is a nice place for lunch.
